So college dopers, whatcha taking this quarter?

I just finished my second day of classes for this quarter. So far, things are going pretty good. I was thinking about how many Dopers who are in college right now and wondered what classes they are going to take this quarter (or semester, as the case may be)…

Me, I’m in 5 classes.

Sociology of Occupations
Social Theory
Topics in Sociology:Serial Murders
Civilization and Literature III - Eastern Society
Survey of American Literature II

So, whatcha takin?

Brendon

Detonation Theory
Pyrotechnics

And -sigh- statistics…

I’ve some how talked my way out of engineering classes. This will probably be my last semester at Tech, because this semester I’m taking all the fun classes I could find. Those include:

Intro to Film
History of Jazz
Photography
Chemistry

It’s only 13 hours, but I’m also going to work 12 hours a week.

This is my last semester. Hooray!

I’ve finished all of the compulsory subjects for the law degree. I just have to do two more elective subjects. I haven’t finalised them yet, but I’ve narrowed it down to four possibles:
[ul]
[li]Health Law and Ethics[/li][li]Trade Practices Law[/li][li]Environmental Law[/li][li]Indigenous Peoples and the Law[/li][/ul]

Law student here, in the second semester of my first year.

New quarter, new major for me. I’ll miss Animal Science, but not chem and calc thank god.

Winter 07

Sociological Theory
Deviance and Society
Data Gathering Methods
Critical Thinking and Logic

This last semester was by far the worst I’ve ever had at any academic level. I’m pretty sure this was the first time I’ve ever failed a class. I’m going to have to take everything again: a lower-division English class, a general ed (but a different one this time), Calc II and Chemistry. I was hoping I could knock out some of my Physics requirements and maybe try Linguistics on for size this semester, but it wasn’t meant to be.

And I forgot to include the list, d’oh–I hit the wrong button, ‘submit’ instead of ‘go advanced.’

Coming up this semester:

[ul]
[li]Criminal Law[/li][li]Property[/li][li]Constitutional Law II[/li][li]Civil Procedure II[/li][li]Lawyering II: Advocacy[/li][/ul]

Don’t any of you people get a winter break? I ain’t takin’ nothin’ right now, and that’s how it will stay for 2 more weeks.

Not if you’re on the quarter system. I’m looking at a 5 day spring break, so its best not to taunt me right now you see?

effing slacker semester bums…

Intro to Conducting
Contemporary Music since 1945
Advanced Orchestration
Modern France and its Cultural Heritage
Performance
Junior Recital

(music composition major, second semester junior year)

Planning on getting a job with Mythbusters?

Second semester of my sophomore year, and with all my major changes I’m still clawing my way out of the basics.

Managerial Accounting
Finite Math
Intro to Computers and Managment Information Systems
Intro to Biological Science
US Government

Fetus, looks like you and I had a semester from hell last fall. I didn’t fail any classes, but I know one of my professors adjusted my grade so that I wouldn’t. Im just waiting for the probation letter to arrive from the business college. Im just hoping that this semester works out better, even though I know I need to retake Business Calculus again.

Beginning in 2 weeks ( I wish I could take more, but I’m also working full-time):

Intro to Enology - I’m excited about this one since my husband will be taking it with me.
Viticulture:Spring Practices - Kind of excited about this one, although not really looking forward to being out in the vineyards at 7 AM during our ‘winter.’
Wine Service and Hospitality - Should be easy enough, it’s the last half of the semester.

Two more lit classes – Restoration & 18th century, and 20th century British lit.

Spanish II
Physics II
Geophysics
Intro to GIS and Cartography
Field Trip (class meets once a week until spring break, when we go ona 10 day field trip to the Southwestern US).
17 credits total. I’m on my winter break right now.

I’m a sophomore and I’ll be taking:

Intermediate Chinese II
Theory of Statistics II
Physics II
Organic Chemistry II
Biochemistry I: Structure, Catalysis, and Metabolism

That’s 20 credits and I’ll be working ~15 hours/week, so I’ll be fairly busy.

Two weeks? I’m on a semester system, and my classes don’t start again until mid-February.

Classics 10 - Discovering the Greeks
Classics 51A - Art and Archaeology in Ancient Greece
Classics 150B - The Female in Roman Literature and Culture
Classics 153K - Greco-Roman Painting: Greek Vase Painting

18 units. I am going to have a very busy 10 weeks, but I’m trying to get all the $#&* seminars done so I can coast through senior year.

When did your fall semester end? My last class was on December 4th (though my final paper wasn’t due until the 17th). A mid-February start would be a 2-month break … too long!
