My driver’s license says they’re black, but sadly, they’re actually a very dark brown. I totally would have voted “black” on your poll if I could have, though.
Was that the feel of the cold rush of air on my back, or what?
Hazel, with mostly green then some brown and a tiny splash of blue.
I’ll trade ya.
I tried colored lenses a few times, but it was a bit distracting as I always felt I was being followed by a colored mist just at the edge of my field of vision. Maybe it’s because I got the cheap ones.
I’m hoping for green eyed grandchildren at least. (My boyfriend’s mom has green eyes. Does that make green eyed grandchildren possible for me? )
How the heck is blue winning?
Yes, if your children marry someone with European ancestry.
Mine are greenish-blue, but for the purposes of the poll I selected green.
I honestly can’t say…I wish I knew for sure exactly what “hazel” means. I’ve heard green/brown, but I don’t know if that’s mine, there’s no brown…in the sunlight they look a murky green - up close, sort of a slate blue/gray with yellow flecks, making the greenish tone…I spend too much time gazing deeply into my own eyes!
People tell me my eyes are hazel, but I really don’t see the difference between hazel and brown.
So I selected brown. Most of my family has brown hair and brown eyes. My grandmother and my sister both have blonde hair and blue eyes. Weirdos.
blue fading to grey, so I put “grey”.
According to my Driver’s License: Black
Brown, but in strong light amber. Never really noticed that before.
Green. The outer perimeter is very green but nearer the pupil it’s a light green, almost yellow with flecks of brown.
I have had people try to tell me they were hazel or blue at times but it seems to depend on what I was wearing. Apparently, they look blue to some people if I am wearing blue, I actually got into an argument with someone once that insisted my eyes were blue, I was wearing a royal blue shirt at the time.
Here is my green eye. It’s like an olive green, and has some yellow sections.
What’s weird is that both my parents have blue eyes, as well as my brother has blue eyes. Where did my green eyes come from?
I can’t find a great picture, but my Aunt Peggy (mother’s sister) has one brown eye and one hazel eye. Here she is with my mom.
It’s very striking in person.
Oh, I have very boring brown eyes.
I have almost the same thing. My right eye is blue; my left eye is more of a blueish-green, with 1/3 brown.
Grey. Envy me, for I am from Westernesse!
(I don’t have my books handy, so I’m praying fervently that since Aragorn had 'em, it was one of their things. )
My eyes change color. They are normal a greyish light blue, but sometimes they look green and sometimes more blue. They are the most green if I’m very tired, but it’s then an aqua kind of thing and not green like one would think of green eyes.
I read the Wikipedia article linked in the OP to see if there is some kind of official definition of eye colors. Based on that, I picked gray. My eyes are that blue/gray/green/gold (there’s a lot of gold around the irises) color that change depending on what colors I’m wearing. I get asked fairly often if I’m wearing contacts by friends and acquaintances not because my eyes are such an amazing, incredible color, but because they apparently seem to have actually changed in color. One of my best friends recently asked me what color my eyes are “legally”. It happens especially when I wear green - I once had to take out my contacts (which I wear for vision only and don’t affect the color of my eyes) for a coworker to prove to her that they weren’t tinted green.
My driver’s license says my eyes are blue, though.
Reading the Wikipedia article, I’d say my eyes are probably classified as gray, but I’m not sure. It varies depending on the lighting and my skin tone (winter pale or summer tanned) and clothing color. Anywhere from greyish-blue to just blue to greenish-blue (sort of aquamarine).
That’s what I was wondering. Maybe the minority of people with blue eyes are just really attracted to polls about eye color.
