What computer games are you most looking forward to?

Of the games that are either in the pipeline or you THINK might be in the pipeline for the fall or basically the entire 2017-18 time frame, what computer (or console if that’s your thing) games are you most looking forward too? Most of the games I had been watching for a while have come out or I’ve seen enough of them that my excitement level has waned, and I really don’t have anything I can say I’m really looking forward to at this point. Was wondering if anyone else have anything in their mental watch list that’s rumored or that’s in the pipeline.

The only one remotely on my radar for any kind of upcoming release is Yooka Laylee, which is another “old school genre revival” from Kickstarter.

The recently released a ‘toybox’ to give people a look at the characters and how they move, I was pretty impressed.

Dishonored II. I really liked the first game, and what we’ve seen of the new one looks interesting.

Despite lengthy delays, I’m still hoping for the release of Torment: Tides of Numenara in early 2017.

I remember finishing the first one and thinking, “Nice proof-of-concept. Now show me the real game.” I hope that’s what we’re getting now.

Gran Turismo Sport (with PlayStation VR). May just have to update to a PS 4 Neo and buy a wheel and pedals if this turns out right. Been a fan since GT2.

Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 6 (english versions). Japanese GTA, except with loads of silliness, in jokes about japanese culture, bizarre mini games, a completely over the top fighting system thats much deeper than the hand to hand combat in GTA, sprawling cities closely modelled after real locations in Japan and an over the top storyline with more twists than a Rajasthani soap opera. Spent more time on Yakuza 4 than any other game on PS3. This series is definitely not for everyone but I recommend people check it out.

the whole family are looking forward to Pikmin4 should it ever arrive

I’m looking forward to Torment too. I’d rather they take their time and not rush it out, so I don’t mind the delays. If the game is good, it’ll still be good a year later. I have other games I can play until then.

Half Life 3

I’ve stopped paying attention to games that are “in development” because so many of them turn out to be either over-hyped total trash or complete vaporware.

I hope there will be a Tropico 6. I have given up hope for another good Might and Magic.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Civilization VI. Kickstarted the former and should be getting a Steam code for it soon, Early Access starts 15th of September.

I don’t know if I’ll actually buy it or not but Steep looks pretty cool.

Borderlands 3.

Likewise.

I think you were one of those who steered me to the franchise a couple of year ago, and (in my boring one-game-at-a-time mode) I’ve had hundreds of amusing hours with it.

I do hope 3 is more of a return to what made the first two great and doesn’t try to… stretch as far as TPS.

Watch Dogs 2. The original was considered a bit underwhelming, not living up to its hype, but I got addicted to the online hacking feature, and played the crap out of it, logging probably several hundred hours of it.

You guys are a bunch of copy cats, taking all the games I was looking forward to for your own, even before I posted them!

So other than civ VI, Torment, Divinity, and Borderlands 3, I’m also looking forward to:

  • Endless Space 2
  • Battletech form the shadowrun guys!
  • mount and Blade 2 - i’m sure the old SDMB multiplayer group will get in on this one.
  • Tyranny from Obsidian, using the pillars of eternity engine. more CRPG goodness, and an interesting take on it too (You’re the bad guy, or the bad guy’s lackey).
  • Cyberpunk 2077, thought it might not actually be out until 2077…
  • Mass Effect Andromeda.
  • Sea of Thieves.

Cyberpunk 2077.

Mass Effect 4 on the PS4 and also Deathwing (or is it Death Wing?). Those two games, for me, are the ones that have me hyperventilating and speaking in tongues whenever I think too much about their release. Of course, I don’t think I’m THAT bad, but my mates and family have both described my actions with similarly creative words when telling me to calm down when someone mentions these games to me.

Starting to champ at the bit for Cosmic Star Heroine, since it’s gone into beta now, and should be releasing sometime later this year…
