What video games are you geeked about?

I was watching a few trailers for video games online today and I was just wondering what ya’ll were looking forward to.

First for me is Shadow of the Colossus. The fact that it is from the creators of Ico is enough for me to be geeked. I also like the single minded approach of the game: you pretty much just hunt down the Colossi. Hopefully I should be getting it this week.

Next is Fatal Frame 3. Alias and I were hugely impressed by Fatal Frame 2. The controls were perfect and it sounds like they kept those mechanics for the new one. This one will be out in the next couple of weeks and I’ll be there with cash in hand.

Ultimate Spider Man is one I will wait a bit to get but am looking forward too. I’m just a Spider Man geek.

There’s a new Zelda game coming out next friggin year for gamecube. It was due out this year but they wanted to put more in it. Should be worth the wait.

The last game is quite a ways away, but I will buy a ps3 for Resident Evil 5 alone. Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games that I have ever played and RE5 will be along the same lines.

So what can’t you wait for?

Shadow of the Colossus is the only game I have ever pre-ordered. Like you, the fact that it was from the creators of Ico was enough to sell me.

I picked mine up on the 19th, and it far exceeded my expectations.

Half-life 2 since I don’t have a computer that can run it.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

The link sufices. This game is too cool for words. Having read the reports a great many people who played it, I’m not even worrying about waiting for reviews. It’s that cool.

I’m really hyped about the upcoming Magna Carta: Tears of Blood - it’s a really amazing-looking Korean RPG from a first-time creator, and it’s just really working a very fresh aesthetic - a very Western (the hemisphere, not the culture) vibe, much like the underrated Shadow Hearts series. It looks to have a very unique battle system and amazing environments and art direction. There’s been very little buildup and hype around it.

I also just got Indigo Prophecy, and it’s my favorite game of the year by far. It’s a “choose your own adventure”/“interactive movie” type game, the likes of which were huge in '94 and you really don’t see any more. The execution is AMAZING - you play as both a killer and the female cop tracking him, and there are a million interactions and conversation trees and multiple choices in any given stage; I’ve had as many as 10 different outcomes of just one stage in the game. AMAZING.

Everything in this cycle of “I really can’t wait for it” has come out within the last couple of weeks - Fire Emblem and Civ 4 in particular - and they’ve all been worth the wait.

The next set starts with Heroes of Might and Magic V (mostly to see if the new company doing it can do it justice), and includes the next Final Fantasy and Zelda games as well.

I’m also really curious about the new Dragon Quest coming out in the next couple of weeks, but not overwhelmingly hyped for it.

The last group I looked forward too didn’t pan out so well, but I still have faith in Supreme Commander and Unreal Tournament 2007.

I wasn’t hyped until I got the demo disc from Square-Enix in the mail, and it’s great - the animation is so fluid and cartoonlike that it makes Zelda: The Wind Waker look like Q-Bert by comparison. The battle system looks and feels great, and the game just bursts with that classic DQ character and monster design.

The new Call of Duty for PS2. I really liked the first Brothers in Arms but the reviews for the just-released sequels are crummy at best.

That game really is great at the beginning, but I got disappointed as it went along. Too many action sequences, and it got kind of Matrixy. I didn’t like the direction the story went in. Also, the fact that you can’t skip cutscenes is kind of an inpediment to my wanting to play it again.

I agree. :frowning:

Fire Emblem! Iwantiwantiwantiwantiwantiwantiwantiwantetc. Best RPG series in a good long while - I just want them to release 6 over here…No such luck, probably :frowning:
Metal Gear Solid 4. Because it’s MGS.
Final Fantasy XII. Because it’s FF. Hopefully it’ll be better than X and XI. And IX.
Elder Scrolls 4. Which just looks kickass.
Star Wars: Empire At War. Which also looks kickass.
And Knights of the Old Republic 3. Because there will be one. And they will finish it properly before they release it. Or else. readies pitchfork, checks his oiled torch and matches are prepared, gets map to Skywalker Ranch

Chin up. They did include the teaser for FE 6 at the end of FE 7 (the prequel) in the American release, so we might just see it here. They cut the teaser out of the European release.

Glad to hear that Path of Radiance is good. I need to buy it. And a Gamecube. And a PS2 for Kingdom Hearts 2.

Another vote for Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion here.

Yeah, yeah … I’m SOCOM’s bitch. I know that.

Dude, why does everyone hate FFIX so much? Amano’s characters are so much better than Nomura’s. IX might be a little more light-hearted, but after Mr. I-hate-you-all-and-I-cut-myself-and-listen-to-emo Leonhart…

Damned straight.

Looking forward to Neverwinter Nights 2, as well. And a PC release (wishful thinking) of Jade Empire.

I love IX, it’s a real FF RPG, surpassed only by VI and IV. I never played XI since I’m a lone player. But I’m excited about XII too. Although bizarrely enough I’m beginning to think there’s too much to do in their games. If I could only kill the part of me that must get 100% I’d be a lot happier. Especially since I never can anyway. Ah well.

I’m really excited about Kingdom Hearts 2 though. Excited enough to want to avoid all info for fear of spoiling a single thing.

And the upcoming Zelda too.
I hate the uncertainty of release dates though. I’d much rather they over estimate and then have pleasant surprises then reel us on with unpleasant surprises.

In the last thread like this I said Sly 3. It was ok, way too short though and not enough to do. I’ve got 70,000 coins that I can’t spend.

Hearing this makes me happy, 'cause I haven’t had a truly great console RPG experience in a long, long while.

Waiting for Hellgate London. Yup, probably won’t be out in time as my christmas present, but one can hope…

Other than that, well, I don’t really have much to look forward to…oh wait, there’s Shadow Hearts: From the New World and Tales of Legndia for the PS2. Both comes from a series of kick-ass RPGs…
