What did you get for Valentine's Day?

I got a sweet e-mail from my…well…I dunno what he is, exactly. Guy whom I like who also likes me? Okay, good enough.

I got the new Annie Proulx novel, some high quality shaving cream and some very nice chocolates. She got vouchers for a pampering session at a beauty clinic (not that she needs it;)).

Tickets to two Rangers’ baseball games this spring… She knows the way to my heart.

I go stood up.

THAT’S a blow to the ol’ ego.

My wife gave me a small blue-grey bear holding a red satin heart with the word “LOVE” written on it. It’s sitting on top of my monitor now.

I gave her a boxed set of Judy Garland DVDs, which we watched on Saturday.

Last year my boyfriend didn’t get me anything. He said that he didn’t like Valentine’s day, and preferred to give gifts at random times. He didn’t tell me that ahead of time, however. He waited until V-Day when I asked him if he forgot something. Wrong. Answer.

This year he got me some white roses. I asked him what he wanted and he said, “to not get yelled at [like last year]”. And he didn’t.

(I got him a pair of jeans and some cinnamon hearts, for the record.)

Ouch.

I feel your pain.

Love.

Well, I got a cable box in the bedroom, a picnic basket of his favorite food (I’m on a fairly strict diet, and he’s been on it with me without complaint. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give him a bit of a treat) and a rose.
he didn’t get me anything…

I got to spend some time with my friend-with-benefits. I also had that relationship reduced down to “just regular friends”. :frowning: However, I found out that same night that another one of my guy friends has a thing for me, and I got to spend some of sunday afternoon cuddling with him, so who knows where that one will go…

A new calf!
And we didn’t even know that the cow was pregnant.

Mrs. Apollyon had had a very bad day. She lost a stuffed toy of our son’s that had significant sentimental value to her (he got it at the children’s hospital here when he was very sick a bit over a year ago) and she called me up at work to tell me nearly in tears.

Some people may say it with flowers, but I said it with bones… I got her the war altar and some packs of Tomb Guard for her Games Workshop Khemri army (miniature skeleton wargame figures – for the non-gamers).

She liked them, and it help cheer her up.

My bestest friend sent me a lovely bouquet. Had it delivered to me at work. Said friend lives a long way away, too. So that was really, really sweet. Quite the day-brightener!

My other bestest friend sent me a hysterically funny card. Really, really funny. Yet another day brightener.

My daughter drew me a really sweet picture, and shared her candy from her school party with me. My husband didn’t get me anything, but that’s because earlier in the week, he fell and hurt his foot really, really badly, and is currently on crutches and not really able to get anywhere. However, he sent me a very nice Happy Valentine’s Day ecard that was waiting for me when I got to work.

I got nifty cool Warhammer 40k figs, she got a new MP3 player. We both got hot monkey sex. Yes we’re geeks, what of it? ;>

I got chocolates

And for my birthday 3 days before, I got a pasta pot from some of the dopers (my one and only present this year lol)

I got Roman Holiday on DVD and a copy of Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. Kept me entertained for the weekend. I gave chocolate, lots of it and a painting. Aparently lasted the evening.

I can’t remember.

An electronic card from a fellow Doper.

A slew of cards in the snail mail from other fellow Dopers.

A little box of Russell Stover chocolates from Mom.

My closest college friend gave me a pot of Body Shop mango lip balm… a flavour I don’t have yet! I was ecstatic… she also treated me to an evening of ballet on Friday. No, we’re not interested in each other for sexual reasons, we’re just companion-y and she’s been spoiling me a lot lately 'cause my birthday was on the 7th. I wonder if my ex would’ve done the same had we still been dating… probably not, but he would’ve wanted to.

A black cashmere cardigan sweater, and two Yankee candles. The sweater is especially wonderful, because it’s something I’ve been thinking lately would be so nice to have, but I never mentioned it, which makes the fact that he picked it out for me really special.
