Yes, I know I’m plumbing new depths of mundanity, but I’ve been off work on the sick for a week now, and the boredom is starting to get to me. I swear, if I watch anymore daytime TV, my brain is going to rot away and dribble out of my ears.
Anyway…I had wheatabix, coffee (made with very special chocolate truffle flavoured beans), two brioche (very nice dunked in coffee) and a kiwi fruit (which, I subsequently discovered, is the only food substance my dog doesn’t like - and my dog eats seaweed). Normally, I’d just have the cereal and coffee, but hey, it passed half an hour. Must go now, “This Morning” is about to start.
Coffee. I can’t do breakfast on a working day, 'cos I can’t cope with eating so soon after I get up. But since this is a working through lunch break day, I’ve just had elevensies. More coffee and roasted almonds.
I am quite determined not to be sick, though a cold has been threatening for a while. By sheer willpower, echinacea, vitamins and whatever other stuff I’ve got lying around, I will resist. I’m going on holiday next week, and I can’t waste that being poorly.
Two bowls of muesli with a white milk product that, I found out to my chagrin in a hotel in London, doesn’t exist outside Scandinavia, or at the very least not in English-speaking countries. We call it fil.
Sliced peach with apple and cinnamon ricecream. I don’t really eat breakfast but the health nut at work has made me promise to try it for a while so I’m trying things that I can throw together and eat in 2 minutes. Tomorrow Fruity Bix and milk.
Ditto on the ‘nothing yet’, I dont’ eat until 9 and it’s 8:30, but this is what I usually have–scrambled eggs, hashbrowns if they’re made with real potatoes, and 2% milk. Though, considering that I havent’ been feeling well, cereal is about as likely this morning.
A sesame seed bagel, toasted with butter and homemade apple butter.
An orange, split 50/50 with the hubby.
A sesame tofu skewer, because it was leftover and looking shabby in the fridge.
A glass of Pepsi, because I’m a paragon of healthy choices.
What is this? I can’t picture (or parse) it? Is it Egg Mayo & Sweetcure Bacon deli filler? I have been looking at all the M&S sites and they have drool inducing things like this:
Smoke Stack: Slices of chicken breast, mayonnaise & oak smoked pepper chutney with sweetcure bacon, oaked smoked cheddar, with mixed salad leaves and tomatoes on rich golden cornbread.
Balsamic Onion and Chicken Lasagne: Caramelised onions with butter and balsamic vinegar layered with chicken in tomato and basil sauce and fresh pasta, topped with ricotta sauce with white wine and parmesan cheese.
It’s boiled egg mashed up in mayonnaise (in the US I believe it’s called ‘egg salad’, which we also have, but our egg salad has onion and other crap in it), and it has bits of bacon sprinkled on the top. M&S do various deli fillers for people to put in their sandwiches, such as chicken, tomato and sweetcure bacon in mayonnaise, prawns in mayonnaise, salmon and cucumber, and so on. It’s all rather delicious.
Their food is just divine; the smokestack is lovely, I tried that last year.
Apples & Cinnamon instant oatmeal, two cups of coffee, and a toasted english muffin with peanut butter and cinnamon spread (unique to Western Canada, more’s the pity) on it.
a Breakfast Jack sandwich (egg, ham & cheese on a small hamburger bun) and a Coke. Pretty shameful, huh? Do you think the double-stuff oreos I’m planning to snarf later will make up for it?
