What Do You Do When You're Sick?

I’m home from work, sick, weak, and nauseous, but before I make the next stop on my exciting couch-to-computer-to-bed circuit, I was wondering. What do you folks do when you’re home sick, bored, and enervated? I indulge in junk television trials like People’s Court and Judge Judy, and some net surfing. I think I’m also going to be doing a lot of math puzzles and playing rummy on my Palm Pilot.

I just get really grumpy and complain to anyone who dares to ask “How are you ?”

I’ve been home from work the past two days because I have strep and the doctor forbade me from going in until tomorrow. Since I’m no longer dizzy and suffering a severe headache (like this weekend) I’ve been playing with the computers- to read stories and write a little- mostly. And sleeping. This weekend I tried watching bad movies until I couldn’t stand looking at the TV any longer. Did I ever actually like Haunted Honeymoon?

When I was recovering from surgery I had marathon sessions with Grand Theft Auto 3.

Of course, I still do, I just had a better excuse back then.

If I’m well enough to be sitting in front of the computer, that means I’m well enough to be working on my thesis. If I’m sick, that usually means that I’m too damn sick to think.

This is why God created daytime television.

I like educational programs, particularly. Sure, they’re mean to be educational for four-year-olds, but even an adult can learn a thing or two about kindness and sharing from Mister Rogers, believe you me. And I think it’s important to watch a talk show from time to time, so that one can feel that one has one’s finger on the pulse of the nation.

I crawl into bed and sleep for about a million hours, then I get up, sit at the computer and grump at people on the SDMB.

Sleep, take megadoses of vitamin C, gargle salt water, take aspirin, sleep, drink lots of water, and I’m usually better in one day.

Get well soon, cj!

if i’m really sick, i tend to sleep it off all day or read, watch movies, and go on the computer. after i got out of the hospital a year ago with my lovely appendectomy scar, i did some artwork and did some lovely depressing smudgy pastel drawings. writing is good too.

Julia Child used to be my favorite show when I was sick (unless it was stomach flu, of course); she is absolutely hilarious! Now I have to settle for Martha Stewart, who is also hilarious, but in a much different way.

hehe julia child is funny! she has this really interesting voice, and sometimes she comes up with the weirdest concoctions… my dad said once she made fish jello with the fish head in it! gross! heh heh… martha stewart is just too… “perfect” for my tastes…

When I was a toddler, my parents found it really disturbing that I liked watching Julia Child, until they talked to my friends’ parents and found out that most of their little ones did too. Then they found it really really really disturbing.

Sleep, combined with fevered sweating, and browsing through my extensive VHS collection.

Nothing calms the nerves more than an episode of “The Secret Life of Machines” frm 1994.
