Chinese food, can you believe it?

Once when I was a child, I ate so much chow mein that I got sick. Or, I was just getting the flu already, or something. Anyway, I boycotted Chinese food for years.

My sister is eleven years older than me, and she and her husband used to come up to our house and the whole family would head into Canada for this wonderful Chinese restaurant. I always stayed home and had a TV dinner.

Then, one time when I was about 19, this guy that I really liked a lot asked me out for dinner. When we got into the car, he said “So, do you like Chinese? Because I thought we would go to this really great restaurant, my favorite.”

Well, of course, since I am not very assertive, and I REALLY liked this guy, I said (weakly) “Sure, that sounds wonderful!” And you know what? IT WAS!

Now, I can’t get enough of the stuff!

ROTFLMAO @ Hastur

For me:
Chilli
Mustard
Onions
Mushrooms (but only when they’re RAW or else stuffed mushrooms)
My mom’s mushroom soup with saurkraut (which she only makes at Xmas time…but I won’t eat the kraut-icky!)
Green beans (I liked them when I was a baby, in fact, my nickname in my family is Bean because my dad always said I had beans all over my face. Then, when I started solids I hated them, now I like them.)
Oatmeal (the flavored kind)
Orange juice with pulp
nuts (depends on what they’re in…I still hate walnuts)
tomato soup
pot roast

going to bed early
naps
school

Bananas
Beer
Diet soda
Exercise
Spinach
Girls
My parents
Golf
Cats
Coffee
Skim milk
Feta cheese

Used to hate Brussel sprouts, now I love 'em.

Used to hate my mother’s salmon patties with cream sauce, but now I’m bigger than she is and she can’t make me eat 'em because I *hate 'em hate 'em hate 'em! They’re horrible! Not fit for a cat! Yuck! Ish! *

Oops.

Sorry.

Kitchen table flashback there.

I just found something today.
Brach’s Traditional Ribbon Candy

I bought it because I had never seen it as an adult, but my grandma always had a big candydish full of it this time of year. All stuck together in one mass, so you had to chip off a hunk.

It’s great. Hated mint then, but love it now.
