Jeremy London allegedly suffered some harrowing real-life drama when the star was kidnapped on 10 June 2010 in the California desert and forced to smoke drugs at gunpoint, according to reports. London was fixing a flat tire outside a hotel in Palm Springs when two men approached to help, local police confirmed in a statement. The gunman forced London to drive to various locations throughout the city, purchase alcohol and use illicit drugs," police said in the statement.
Forced to smoke drugs at gunpoint? I don’t get it. Assuming the drugs weren’t his, why would anyone force someone else to smoke their drugs? “Dude, you better smoke all of this crack…that I just paid a shitload of money for…or else I’m gonna pop a cap in your ass!”
Odd. It sounds like someone was trying to spoof the bit in Thank You for Smoking.
Maybe the kidnapper was crazy and somehow thought that London’s anti-smoking documentary was really a reverse-psychology, hidden messages sort of thing that was pro-smoking and pro-drugs?
I don’t blame you. He isn’t exactly an A-Lister. He had a pretty big role in Mallrats, but Kevin Smith and Jason Lee don’t seem to like him very much. Beyond that? What else was he in?
What I’m thinking is that he found some guys, got high with them, and then cooked up this story and turned them into the cops when he either 1) didn’t want to pay them when they asked for money or 2) he gave them drugs and they didn’t pay him when he asked for money.
I have no cites or evidence, of course. This is just my hunch.
The IMDB thread about this incident is rather funny:
I liked this quote:
*That reminds me of the time I was kidnapped by unknown assailants who forced me to vacation in Hawaii, stay at a 4-star hotel, and spend my days partying and sleeping with many beautiful supermodels.
I only wish I was joking, it was a horrifying experience which scarred me for life!*
I know we Dopers sometimes like to talk shit about the posters on IMDB, but that’s a post worthy of the SDMB, right there.
I’m guessing 2, because in the case of 1, I should think they’d have beaten the sh!t out of him when he didn’t pay. Probably a version of 2 where they were all supposed to go in on the purchase but he ended up the only one paying.
