What the heck is Ron Jeremy doing anywhere near a television camera?!?!

Last night I was up kinda late after a nice long 8-hour CQ watch, and what did I see on TV when I went into the dayroom? Ron Jeremy, hosting an infomercial something or other for some penis enlarger.

He had testimonials from porn stars and everything! Geez, I think TV has hit the ultimate low now, when they have the Hedgehog hosting ANYTHING on TV.

Has anyone else seen this, or is it just me? I was kinda weirded out by the whole thing. Imagine kids staying up late and seeing that stuff.

I haven’t seen that but he has been in several Troma movies. Most notably Terror Firmer.

Ah, all the stars, porno or not, end up somewhere. M.C. Hammer is doing an ad for some lawyer, and I saw Mr. T on what I think was some sort of Christian infomerical.

Ron had a part in that KISS movie, and a few other mainstream movies. I saw at the video store that he’s in a new horror or suspense type movie that just came out as well.

I saw that the other night too. It was hilarious! The man is funny. I saw a documentary about him a few months ago, and he was there at the theater to answer questions. Nice guy!

Can you think of anyone BETTER to hawk such a thing?

Ok, now this is serious.

First, WHAT BUSINESS WOULD KIDS HAVE BEING UP THAT LATE?

Second, if they’re younger kids, they won’t understand what it’s all about anyway, and would turn the channel out of boredom. If they’re older kids, they’ll be learning about sex at some point anyway. It’ll just give them questions to ask their parents. Of course, parents who would let their kids stay up that late wouldn’t care one way or the other.

Third, whines like that is what’s contributing to the childrification of the country. “Remove all sex from TV, movies and the Internet so the CHILDREN won’t get infected!” Never mind that this informercial is on SO late at night, there should be no child up to watch it. Forget about the adults and their rights. It’s all about the CHILDREN. Blah! To hell with the children. If parents are doing their jobs, the children won’t be affected badly by any of it.

RJ showed up in that Turner film about George Wallace (he was a heckler in the crowd).

There was even an article about him several weeks ago in the English version of the Forward (not a place you expect to see interviews with porn stars).

Guess he’s spreading himself around.

He was also on a prime time Penn and Teller special.

For some odd reason they did a song and dance “Salute to Pornography” and Ron actuallt danced. Clothed!

Shocking!

Let’s face it - the guy is almost totally mainstream now. As proof, I offer this - he did a ‘celebrity weakest link’ episode. Prime time, family television.

Plus he has a cameo in the new Moby video.

Yet another reason to outlaw infomercials:

It’s the middle of the night, you can’t sleep, and that damn Ron Jeremy infomercial is on at least three channels at once.

Where’s that infomerical for The Firm workout tapes when you need it?

He was uncredited in an episode of Just Shoot Me, the other porn stars were in the credits, but not Ron.

Maybe he isn’t doing porn anymore & needs a job?

RJ was in the movie “the Boondock Saints” in a secondary, but fairly prominent role (he had lines.)

Apparently it’s called Extenze.

Cripes…good thing I could google this at home…NOT a workplace safe google.

I read somewhere that he was on “The Weakest Link” some months ago.

Don’t know what kind of theme that show must have been. . .

I bet alot of you will be surprised to learn that Ron Jeremy used to be a high school teacher, he has a masters degree in special education, and he’s been in at least one Disney movie.

I think he’s cool.

Ron Jeremy - The Movie

That link goes to the web site of a documentary that is currently touring about Ron Jeremy. I highly recommend it.

(I think the link is safe for SDMB, I apologize if it isn’t)

The one thing Jeremy wants more than anything is to go mainstream, but pretty much realizes that he never can.

All I can say is, he is one butt-ugly mofo.

I honestly don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

I’m having a crisis of memory. I know that Ron was a “consultant” for the film Boogie Nights, but I swear he also did a cameo appearance as a cameraman in that film. Now, I can find no mention of it.
