What does your user name mean?

Hello Again is my horse’s show name. Her “barn name” or name for everyday use is Holly.

Now, if I was to reveal the meaning behind my user name, where would the mystery be?

What would be really really cool is if someone created a database and within the database would be links to relevant sources for particular usernames. For example, More Cowbell’s name could have the brief description and maybe a link to the skit.

These people are crazy!

Ptahlis: did you ever meet Ptennisnet?

habs: How do you get that from “Montréal Canadiens”?

Maladopteryx: badly adopted bird? Maybe a cuckoo’s offspring?

Noone Special: In World English that looks like a cheap lunch.

Lars Aruns: Sounds Swedish.

big_yellow_kingswood: Maaaaaaate! Owyergoan?

boofy_bloke:

habs comes from Les Habitants

Explanation here.

My username is simply my first name.

It’s my dog’s name. You can see her here.

The first part of my username is pretty straightforward. You can take me out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of me.

The “boy” part is purely a gender reference. I’m not actually underage.

And the number is just for grins.

I used the handle “Monolith” on Usenet, after a hidden character in Pong Kombat. The first time I went on IRC, “Monolith” was taken, but there’s a monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey

It’s an obscure theory related to evolution that’s basically untrue, but it’s a fascinating theory anyway. Maynard James Keenan (of Tool and A Perfect Circle) seems fascinated with the theory too… Tool has a song by this name as well.

Basically, Forty-Six&Two can be taken to mean “a great change”, or evolving to the next step.

Ha ha big_yellow_kingswood, nice username.

I had a big old bucket of crap, namely a HG belmont, if i followed your example my username would be white_ruststreaked_HG_belmont_with_a_dent_in_the_door_and_fluffy_dice_hanging_off_the_mirror. Memories of mammaries that i associate with that old piece of shit.

G’day Boof head, sorry, boofy_bloke

Me…i lurk…from work.

Well, I was always a bit of a hippie and my mom lways called me flowerchild, so here i am.

Firstly 'cos I’m shy.

Secondly 'cos at the time of registering I was losing weight, and violet was my favourite colour. If I were registering today, I’d probably be Bloating Emerald.

Julie

I’m an easy one.

Not like that!

Wee filthy-minded…

my name is just a goof on brad pitts nothing more noting less…kinda pittiful huh

I always figured there was this total sexist bastard that other sexist bastards emulated. He must have been a french guy named, “Cheuvan.”

I’m not much of a sexist, and ma denies I am a bastard. Cheauvan was a paladin I played in D&D back in the day.

Jeez, you people are SO much more creative than I am!

I think this is the third time for me, but my name is what I came up with when trying to think of a username for my first e-mail account.

I took my job (obvious) and combined it with the airplane I was flying at the time (the C-141 ).

I’ve moved on to fly other aircraft, but the username stuck.
