According to a November 13, 2003 article in the LA Times, Tritia Toyota is married to Michael Yamaki, formerly the Appointments Secretary for former governor of California Gray Davis.
Before Davis left office, he appointed Yamaki to the California Medical Assistance Commission and Toyota to the California Council for the Humanities.
The website for the Council http://www.calhum.org/about/about_board.htm
lists Toyota’s profession as “broadcast journalist”.
Most likely, she would be working in corporate communications, such as serving as a moderator for some panel discussion among CEOs in a teleconference and stuff like that.
It’s not as visible as TV, but it likely pays pretty well and you don’t have to worry about focus groups.
Thanks, Rico. Maybe that’s why I sisn’t turn anything up.
BobT: Good to hear she’s doing well.
I recall reading several years ago how, when her fellow anchor John Schubeck, passed away, in a sad way, she stepped up & arranged for his funeral & paid for the services as well. Quite a woman & friend to those who know her…

never heard of her
She is now a professor of anthropology and AA studies at UCLA.
I know this is a zombie thread but updating if anyone is still interested.
Her page on the UCLA website.
Didn’t she die when a chicken restaurant got hit by a meteor?
Oh wait, that was Tricia Tanaka.
I didn’t realize this was a Zombie till I came across my own post from 13 years ago!
Jesus! Where does the time go?
An ajjunct professor?
Non tenured and basically a lecturer.
And Christopher Nance is now dead. Christopher Nance Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information
I believe kunilou is pointing out that UCLA misspelled “adjunct”.
I think you are right. Usually that’s something USC would do. I apologize on behalf of my alma mater. :o
I apologize for not making the point of my post more “cleer.”
I had always thought his bearing was more reminiscent of Baxter Ward.
Since Kent Brockman is voiced by Angeleno Harry Shearer, Dunphy would not surprise me. I have no idea who Hal Fischman is/was.
l grew up in north San Diego county, but the family tv was able to p/u the signals from LA. I mostly watched KABC, and also remember Christine Lund & “Fast Eddie” Alexander. He left LA for SD, and then went to the slammer for fraud. He died about a decade ago.
Also, does anyone remember the last name of Joe, “the green grocer?”
Joe Carcione?
There is no apology sufficient for ucla.
How did you like that beat-down Stanford gave you Saturday?
