What Fashion Do You Wish Would Come Back

I think hats are totally stupid…unless you are working in the yard and need protection from the sun, or to keep warm in sub-zero temps. Otherwise, hats to me are pretentious fluff…and don’t even get me started on the idiots who wear cowboy hats (male and female) but have their Honda Civic parked outside of the bar. They might as well wear a Fez and pretend they own a camel ranch.
Fashions that should come back? Bring back the 50’s!
For men; the James Dean white t-shirt and tight jeans; plaid flannel shirts in the fall and winter; black leather motorcycle jackets.
For women; 50’s Poodle skirts; tight knit sweaters; bobby socks and two tone shoes; pearl necklaces; pony tails.

What, I can’t just be walking out in town or something and need protection from the sun? UV rays aren’t harmful only to farmhands you know.

I’ve got a black fedora that goes pretty nicely with this tan leather jacket I own. I don’t know if it says “cowboy” or what, but it’s warm and nice in cold weather.

That was the basic problem with the Good Old Days - poodle skirts for women.

How about we all get to wear jeans, knit sweaters, motorcycle jackets, and pearls?
(I’ve always loved pearls and motorcycle jackets.)

I wish speedos would come back into fashion for men (or least that swimsuit hemlines would go from mid-calf to mid-thigh).

I’d like to see a resurgence of occasions where it’s acceptable or expected for men to dress up. This can happen for women, too, except I think they’re already in a much better position than men.

I should say that I generally find people who bemoan the rise of casual wear to be completely insufferable. I can`t stand idiots who think jeans are evil, or shorts are children’s clothes, or that people who hate wearing ties are inherently lazy people. It’s ridiculous and it’s totally ok to like being casual.

But I can’t even find occasions or events where I can dress up. And what is most annoying is that I often go places where all the women are in pretty dresses. Nobody ever asks them “why are you so dressed up?”, they just look fantastic in their hot little dresses. I just want it to become OK again for me to be equally dressy at such events.

In keeping with swords (preferably a nice, wieldy rapier), capes, and hats for men, I’d like to see a “code duello” come back.

Swords at dawn on the Field of Honor. Yes, I’d like that.

Of course, society as a whole would have to change radically; try that shit now and you get some punk pulling his “gat” and “bustin’ a cap in yer ass.” Or worse, siccing his lawyer on you.

Most will probably not agree with me, but I really enjoyed off the shoulder sweatshirts and neon colors.

Crotchless chaps.

Monobrows.

Facial hair.

(These are for men only.)

They’re in fashion in Brazil… Most of the guys I saw at the beach (whether very beautiful to very unattractive) wore those.

Beards are already back in.

I have a huge thing for guys who wear chain wallets. I still see dudes wearing them every so often, but nothing like when they came back with the swing craze of the 90s. Also pinstripe suits and sideburns.

For women, veiled hats.

Second! My favorite dress of all time was paisley. Of course, it was in the second grade . . . but it was so pretty. With a little black velvet bow. Why is paisley out of style? MrDibble, have one made for you. If I see you in it, I’ll tell you how nice you look.

I wish capes would make a comeback. Big voluminous capes made of luxurious fabrics with deep hoods… because a cape makes everything you do just that much more dramatic. A trenchcoat just doesn’t swirl properly if I want to make a grand exit.

I’m glad to see that old school men’s hats are making a comeback, at least within the late-20s-to-early-30s bracket. I love me a man in a nice hat. It makes my heart go pitter-patter.

In fact, The Boy has a couple of fedoras. He likes to rock the vintage 1950’s wool fedora when he wants to look like a mensch.

Nah. Waistcoats & hats.

This is exactly what’s keeping me from wearing hats.

60s Hipster beat-poet garb. Turtlenecks, berets, little dark glasses, wide belts and tight slacks. Think James Coburn In Like Flint.

The day this trend comes back is the day I shell out several thousand dollars for laser eye surgery.

I like the cool, 1940’s look of these suits…and hardboiled detectives like Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade wore them.
What are the chances?

Another vote for miniskirts here.

Mustaches. Big bushy ones.
