What games do you plan on picking up in 2016?

Crap. I really was hoping that MKX might one day become a definitive Mortal Kombat game with all of the characters, and the latest news is just the opposite: the latest DLC (which includes Sektor, the character I remember playing most from my childhood) is console exclusive.

The only two games I’m actively looking forward to are Fire Emblem Fates (3DS, late Feb) and Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II (PS3, release date not announced but widely assumed to be late 2016). I’ll probably buy at least half a dozen 2016 PC releases, but they’re likely to be indies and/or roguelikes that I don’t even know are coming yet. And of course a ton of older stuff once it hits the right price point.

Also, and only since you asked, I could not possibly be less interested in the Rift and in VR in general. I also go to exclusively 2D movies. So I might just not be the target audience.

XCom 2 is the game I might pay $30+ for. I’m playing Enemy Within for the third time, loving it just as much as before. It’s very few games I can replay that much. None of the other similar games I’ve tried–Shadowrun, Stealth INC. (Or Invisible Inc, Can’t remember which), a couple of others–have scratched that itch.

Dragon Age Inquisition is one I’ll buy when it goes on sale, $5-$10. I expect I’ll get it super-cheap this summer.

Now that I have a SSD, I’m going to try Divinity: Original Sin again. I enjoyed it, but the loading times were ridiculously long, to the point that it was almost unplayable.

Deus Ex and Torment both really intrigue me; I didn’t know of them until just now.

*Mass Effect: Andromeda * for sure.
Dishonoured 2
Maybe Deus Ex if the boss fights are less sucky than in Human Revolution

Uncharted 3?

Also looking forward to No Man’s Sky.

VR is got a long rope to climb for sure. 3D movies really aren’t a comparison to VR though.

It looks like the White March si equal parts story and combat. When it hits, a 3.0 patch will hit with it, and it’s going to revamp a lot of the (already much changed since release day) existing combat formulas. I’m hoping the changes will improve combat more than a bit.

Well, I am suffering (:dubious:) from a huge backlog of Steam games, and my time to game is not as much as it’s been before I got married (not that I would trade my love for more game time. really I wouldn’t ;))

I’m going to try to focus on playing through the games I already have. I believe I have close to 200 games on steam, and the amount of games that seemed really cool that I just haven’t spent time with yet is getting downright embarrassing.
Of course this resolve will probably only last until the steam spring sale, when I will once again succumb to the “but…but…it’s EIGHTY PERCENT OFF” weakness that I fall prey to every sale.

Anyhow, there are some sequels to games i liked a lot and have finished that would be insta-buys for me, or certain types of games (I’m a sucker for side scrollers (action or puzzle), story driven RPG’s, and Terraria clones). But I’m not looking forward to anything in particular. I’m far behind in most popular series, I’ve only played the first Batman, Dragon Age, X-Com, Witcher, and Mass Effect Games. Yes, I have most of the sequels, they lanquishing in my steam queue. :o

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Doom 4
Persona 5

Sucks that the PC buyers of MKX are getting screwed, but I can’t say it’s too surprising after how poorly the PC release went. I can’t imagine the sales were too good.

But hey, if MK9 was a re-telling of MK through MK3, and MKX was a retelling of MK4, you just gotta wait until they get around to re-making MK: Armageddon.

XCOM2 - But I’ll wait until it drops in price after 6 or 8 months.

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharakis looking like my RTS for the year.

No Mans Sky looked great but updates seem pretty sparse right now.

Overwatch is getting great buzz, looks like a fine team-based FPS.

Rumours about the next Battlefield game are circulating, should be out this year but it’s unknown if it will be BF: 2143, Bad Company 3 or Battlefield 5

Star Citizen - If it manages to move beyond a ship buying simulator this year I’ll give it another look (I got an early $30 package waaaay back when it was first announced - that’s enough support until it become a bit more real).

Fallout 4 - maybe when it goes on sale as a GOTY edition with any DLC, patches etc.

TotalBiscuit does not recommend it in his latest WTF is? video - not yet, anyway. Apparently the AI’s as dumb as a post and there are only five multiplayer/skirmish maps.

OH man! Was lookign forward ot this after completing SCII Legacy of the void and to keep me from going insane waiting or Xcom 2 to come out.
