I’m surprised by how many people don’t even know it exists, much less what it’s used for. “MS-DOS” is a completely foreign term to them.[/li][li]Counting in binary on my fingers (I can count to 31 on one hand, 1023 if I use two hands)[/li][li]Thinking up words that occur as hexadecimal strings (decade, bead, deaf, ace, etc.).[/li][li]I’ll second clayton_e on old Atari systems.[/li][/ul]

Using PINE in a Unix window on my win2k machine to collect my email via a telnet to my university server

Listening to Public Radio

Trivial Pursuits

Going to Quiz Nights at the pub for just the quiz (ie staying sober and answering the questions)

Well, my wife thinks I’m cool and one of the most interesting people she knows… and here is my list of things I do that some might think are geeky:

  1. Memorized pi to 100 decimals
  2. Constantly looking for puns to pull on her
  3. Hi Opal (Seriously… member of SDMB)
  4. Remember obscure facts
  5. Juggle
  6. Performing Magician
  7. Computer expert

And it’s because of these things (and a few others ;))that Mrs. D thinks I’m cool. I am truely blessed.

Dreadful puns.
The thing that plugs in a trailer hitch receiver that has a propeller that spins in the wind.
Fedoras.
Fly fishing.
Folks who can draw all 50 states freehand.
Expert gardening.
Doing an owl’s call well enough to get a reply.
Computer wizards who can answer a naive question without sneering.

Anyone who can beat me at Trivial Pursuit without me spotting them a wedge.
