What gifts have you received so far?

Maybe the sound on the clip isn’t good enough for you to hear it, but those definitely aren’t the words that the dog is singing.

I work in a job where we get gifts sent to our office quite a bit during the holidays.

Lots of treat baskets but occasionally an actual item.

The best… literally one of the best presents I have recieved ever, arrived early this week. A Shrper Image small tool kit. It’s in a zip up case and includes a level, a small hammer/leatherman, a small swiss army knife, a large swiss army knife, a small tape measure, and an assortment of screwdrivers.

I also recieved a very nice set of cufflinks and a “night stand valet”.

For a secret santa gift a coworker got me an actually funny McSweeney collection book.

A one-year subscription to Scientific American. It was on my list, so I’m happy.

I got a a rock.

We’re doing a secret santa thing at work, where we all wrote down wish lists, so whoever we got, we wouldn’t be clueless about what to get them. So far mostly everyone is getting stuff they at least mentioned. My santa seems to have only skimmed my list :stuck_out_tongue:

So far: a Butterfinger and Big Red gum (good so far!), then a warm Fanta (straight from the vending machine outside. Curious, but tasty), and a wee package of ball-point pens. I’m not sure why.

We were supposed to have our party today, with the final gift, but that was cancelled due to power outages. I’m not sure what’ll happen now, but I’m hoping for jalapeno flavored jerky. Yum!

The best gift so far is from one of our contractors. He gave most of us each a bottle of vodka (my boss got tequila), which is a first for me.

A Rigid 10" table saw

A Rigid 6" jointer

A Craftsman 10" band saw

A Dewalt planer

A Rigid orbital sander

A Rigid plunge router

Assorted blades, etc

And The Little Hook (age 37) got me running boards for my truck.

None of which I’m allowed to play with until the big day.

Well, so far all I’ve gotten are the gifts from my Secret Santa at work, which are Dove Chocolates, dark red oven mitts. IBC root beer , Snow Valley hot cocoa mix and a green-and-yellow horned dragon figurine (nice detail, too–the wings are translucent and you can see veins in them). (I also got a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card from her, but that was a birthday present.)

I worked at a place with two companies owned by the same people under one roof. The other company employees always got the better swag. The father of this group is from the Ukraine and he is set on the booze always being a large assortment, and the really good stuff. The other company stopped work at about 14:00 for 3 hours of a good party before the Holiday. We on the other hand had snacks and lunch of a different quality and no time off. We got a $5 item, and the other’s got a holiday bonus, a bootle of booze, and sometimes an additional gift. I did alot for the better bonused side, so I was over there one year when the party was in well started, and there were a few good bottles of liquer left in the gift bin.

I just happened to see the father and said " Hey “Name”, I see there’s a few bottles left here. Do you mind if I take one?"
Him “Sure.” "Go ahead."in that flambuant stereotypical russian way you see them do in the movies.
Me “Thanks Name, this is great.”
I got my first $50 Cognac.

This is the same man that was an acrobat in the circus as a young man. The family has such an interesting history. His wife is an ex-Mormon from Salt Lake City, trapped in Germany while visiting reletives in WWII, where she met her Ukrainian Husband, and married him, to move back to the USA. The childern and their history is about as good. They head off this time of year for two weeks to met friends frome other dive vacations.

Ok so I’ve been going off on a tangent. I just get into a good mood when I think of them.

The kids head off on the dive trip. The parents come back from their desert home to Wisconsin to run the company two weeks.

My wife, God bless her, got me a PSP.

The only gift(s) I’ve received so far were from my father’s second wife. I don’t know her very well because they were married less than 10 years and I detest my father so I didn’t see them much. She is a nice lady though (before my dad came along, she was a Nun) and she seems to still see me as a daughter.

Anyway, being the religious type (and not realizing that I am not), she always sends me a mix cd of Randy Travis Christian music. I must have told her at one point that I like Country music. I have never told her that I like Christian music. Actually, I mostly strongly dislike Christian music.

So, I got yet another CD. She also sent me a 3 pack of some really nice socks. The only problem is that the socks are women’s size 9. I wear size 6-1/2 shoes and actually get my socks from the children’s department. I plan to donate the socks to my big-footed sister.

I also got a lovely green scarf. Not a practical scarf at all, considering that I live in New England. But, it’s still lovely and if I ever do learn to accessorize properly, I’ll be sure to wear it.

She also sent my boyfriend a 3 pack of socks. His fit.

congodwarf I’m sure being an ex-nun, she would only get you acceptable christain music. That doesn’t mean christian rock, it means anything with the slightest irreverant words. She will always try nudge you in what she sees as the right direction. No big hasle, she sounds like a thoughtful person.

Oh, nearly forgot! A classic Richard Pryor album, which I haven’t heard in about…mmm…twenty years. My husband got it for me but I can’t listen to it till Christmas.

From a co-worker: It’s a…ummm…how do I put this…it’s a big apple, coated with glass beads. Yes.

He really is a very sweet man.

Heh. I almost sent my Grandma this wreath featuring smaller versions of the same, but realized at the last minute it was a little too glitzy. Instead I got this muted one.

We exchanged gifts at a solstice party I went to last week; all of my gifts have been books so far, except for two magnets and two pins.

Hamish gave me a book of proverbs, a copy of Aesop’s Fables, and some yaoi; from my other friends I got two other volumes of yaoi and a copy of Eats, Shoots, and Leaves.

My mom sent me a check and told me to go shop, and someone from work gave me a package of Tim Tam’s (his wife is from Australia) but I never did get to try one - my husband ate the entire package. :frowning:

I opened a gift bag from a friend and found a ten dollar Starbucks card, a cute colored glass bead bracelet, a turquoise nugget keychain, and some little plush goldfish magnets.

I got a marine barometer and a Swiss 7-liter pressure cooker.

We haven’t opened it yet, but my great-aunt sent the family a bag of gifts that includes a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream.

You can guess what I’M going to be enjoying on Christmas Eve! (I love a good Irish Cream)
