What happened to the cheap DSL?

How come I never hear about the cheap DSL that was supposed to be coming soon, now that a new standard was agreed on, making more competition among manufacturers and providers? Wasn’t it GS Light or something?

Glight internals, not always on, $20 month? Have no idea. try the ba.internet newsgroup, find out & let us know.

It’s coming.

But it takes time. It has to be implemented with physical equipment in every single telephone-company Central Office, and that’s a decidedly non-trivial job.

Heck, here I am in the center of a good-sized, upper-middle-class, suburban New Jersey town that was settled before the Revolution, has been on a major highway for just as long, and has been on a major commuter railroad since the 1840’s, and I still can’t get DSL in any flavor, yet.

I 'm still trying to figure out what happened to the cheap LSD, man.

It only hurts when I laugh.
