What happened to you today?

[li]I got the job I really, really, really wanted.[/li][li]I tried to give blood but was turned away, because apparently, I weigh enough for the Red Cross, but not these folk.[/li][li]I discovered that a college cafeteria can make even pizza suck.[/li][/ul]

Anyone else? Random slice-of-life posts?

I’m supposed to donate blood tomorrow. Hope my iron is high enough!

I got an unexpected (but totally deserved and needed) pay raise today. That was awesome! I have a few new job responsibilites, but it’ll give me a little more variety in my day. Good, because I was getting bored.

Oh, we had our pictures taken for next year’s catalogue. Mine came out really well. Yay!

Several people who were not aware that I am not to be fucked with are no longer laboring under that misapprehension.

Details?

Good for you! Always a swell feeling.

heh…I think I narrowly escaped your wrath once on that score. Too tired to get into it as I recall. [ul]
[li]Found my daughter’s escaped gerbil (alive in spite of my 3 (worthless) cats!) this morning. She (the gerbil) escaped yesterday afternoon.[/li][li]Was asked by a coworker to change her alternator. A fast $40 for Inigo.[/li][li]Identified the moron who insists on filling the #4 cone filter almost to the top before brewing the coffee.[/li][li]Gave someone $500 more on the settlement of their totaled car because they discussed it rationally.[/li][/ul]

The day didn’t start out great (way too early), but it got better.

[li]Had my fiance-visa physical, and passed![/li][li]Charmed the receptionist when I went in for the results.[/li][li]Dropped into the record store as I was passing, and was forced to buy the CD that was playing: People’s Spring by the Warsaw Village Band, described as “hardcore folk from Poland”. Strange stuff, some of it, but great![/li][li]Also bought the Bob & Doug McKenzie album. Beauty, eh?[/li][/ul]

Congratulations on the new job, NinjaChick!

I had something new for lunch - rice noodles with beef in a peanut/tomato sauce. It looked absolutely disgusting, but it tasted wonderful.

I’ve been very stressed lately, and I nearly started crying at work (humiliating).

I’m coming down with a cold.

Right now, I’m having a large glass of wine.

Beh. The MeatBeast had a filthy day.

  • Found out today that I can’t take tomorrow off (my birthday) because we got in a ton of unexpected shipments.

  • Didn’t have a beer for the first day in over 3 months.

  • Watched Army of Darkness again.

  • Bought cat food.

Today I

–woke up with a sinus cold
–found out I have a schedule change tomorrow, so am forced to scramble for a filler lesson plan that may or may not work
–ate the homemade pesto I made last night for lunch with gourmet ravioli
–sat through a boring-ass staff meeting
–toured an orchard for a class trip and got to walk under and arch of trees
–ate the best damn Macintosh apple I have ever eaten
–ate the best damn grapes I’ve ever eaten
–got lost in the middle of nowhere trying to find a shortcut, but only for 10 minutes
–found the bag of birdseed I bought ripped open by the cats, got it all into a bucket, and then had the bucket turned over by the cats
–found out the series premiere of Lost was on 2 minutes before it started, and am watching it

Fun life, eh?

You go, girl!

Today I

-had a good nap during lunch
-figured out how to use the pen tool in Photoshop to do useful things
-got hit with the sack while watching a hacky-sack game

Early this morning I left Mr. S in bed with the springers while I got up and did some deskwork. As I walked back up the driveway after putting a letter in the mailbox, I head Phyllis barking at me from the bedroom window! So I taunted her from the lawn and she kept barking until Mr. S finally gave up and hauled his carcass out of bed.

I just wrote a “Hey, let’s get reacquainted” e-mail to a friend with whom I’ve had no contact for about 13 years. Think she’ll write back?

I’m enjoying a rare lull in work, until next week or so when the next avalanche arrives.

I’m still reveling in the miracle that I did not have to bury my dog Scout on Saturday after all. She walks (nay, she runs!), she poops, she’s 99% good as new! Happy happy joy joy.

Hmm, today was pretty humdrum. But the weather was nice.

Serendipitously discovered my mother’s recipe for low-budget stew - I’m so cashed out that I have to eat it lunch & dinner for the next 3 days!!

Hmm, slice-of-life, you say?

-woke up with same headache from last night
-dragged my butt to work, made all of $17
-came home and took a nap, cause I still had the headache
-went to the drugstore to finally refill my migraine meds
-got rid of headache
-pulled large glob of poo from my cat’s booty
-read and posted on the Dope
-ate McDonalds for dinner. It was cold. Again. It was also not what I ordered, they were out of salads, and boyfriend got me a burger. The salad would have been great, cold.
-about to wash my cat. Pray for me.

My life is boring.

McDonalds has burnt my buns about the last 6 times I’ve been there… and nothing burns my buns more than burnt buns!

I got out of bed for the first time (pretty much) in two days because the Zithromax finally kicked in and started alleviating my double ear/sinus infection.

The sunshine and wind in my hair never felt so good!

I dropped both kiddies off at school and for the first time since last school year ended, I was kid-free ( guilt free with not having to do a playdate payback) for two and a half hours.

I went for a walk on the track at the school and managed a little over a mile.

Mailed a package of twinkies as a wedding present to a friend in England who married Labor Day weekend.

Went bowling and bowled a 104/110/116 tonight. Modestly not bad for me, considering it is very distracting to bowl in a loud enviroment with hearing loss in one ear and my balance is still off, but not as much as it was. I’m getting better.

-Went bike riding in a neighborhood I’d never explored before.

-Went to topology class. One student was presenting a problem at the board but they struggled quite a bit and took up almost the entire period.

-Met with a group of students to plan a volunteer activity. We’re going to visit a local elementary school and do science-related demonstrations for one of the special ed classes. We get to make liquid nitrogen ice cream for them.

-Had boxed microwave lasagna, canned spinach, and ice cream (non liquid nitrogen) for dinner. I usually cook something for myself, but I keep microwave dinners in the freezer for when I feel too sleepy.

-washed cat. Was a success, only one scratch! Maybe my little baby has finally grown up enough to realise that I do this for his own good!

HA! I masking taped the claws of death.
