I think the verb there should be “Save”.
The really scary part is that I can easily imagine that in 5 - 10 years, she will represent the SANE, NORMAL part of the Republican Party. There will be plenty of others who are vying to be much worse. They just have not gotten elected… yet.
Yeah, there’s a Borowitz Report satire piece about how people miss the intelligence and wisdom of Sarah Palin after MTG came on the scene.
2026: “Well sure Marjorie Taylor Greene said some crazy shit, but at least she did not actually take a shot at the House Leader in the middle of a legislative session. like Rep Crazyhead (R ) just did today”
“Yup. Any word on what GOP leadership is going to do about that?”
“I heard that they have put out a statement that although they disagreed with the actual shooting, there is plenty of blame on both sides, as the House Leader was saying some terrible things about how we should be kind to immigrants.”
That mean Demo house leader selfishly got their blood all over Rep Crazyhead’s bullet, ruining it completely. Republican commentators are outraged at this affront, and Fox is reporting about all that outrage.
The one saving grace is that now that MGT is in office, she is trying to distance herself from those old claims. I’m sure she still believes them but at least they are crazy enough that she can no longer publicly embrace them without negative consequences. It’s when someone in Congress can say these things and stand by them, and get away with it, that’s when we really know we’re in trouble. (Unfortunately I don’t have total faith that we won’t get there someday.)
You assume Rep Crazyhead will be shooting the Dem House Leader. Why would she shoot them instead of her RINO traitor Leader?
She got the RINO with the ranging shot.
If snorting Pepsi out my nose while reading this exchange is wrong, I don’t want to be right…
Press on.
Welp, all this has apparently not prevented Rep. CrazyPants from being appointed to the Education Committee, no sirree! What. The Actual. Fuck.
“What I’m concerned about is the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives who were willing to overlook, ignore those statements,” Pelosi said during her weekly press conference on Capitol Hill when asked about Greene’s rhetoric.
“Assigning her to the Education Committee when she has mocked the killing of little children at Sandy Hook Elementary School, when she has mocked the killing of teenagers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School — what could they be thinking? Or is ‘thinking’ too generous a word for what they might be doing? It’s absolutely appalling.”
Pelosi said the “focus” should be on GOP leaders, and that Greene’s presence on the Education Committee showed the “disregard they have for the death of those children.”
Pelosi has 5 kids of her own (and of course grandchildren now) and I’d be appalled myself on that basis alone, never mind anything else (and of course there’s lots else to be pissed off about here).
After walking the elephant.
No assumption here. @Euphonious_Polemic’s set-up said the House Leader needed shootin’ because they said something favorable towards immigrants. Even the RINOest of RINOs would never do that.
It may be true that conspiracy theories often don’t make much sense. But they aren’t going anywhere. They’ll change a little to draw on upcoming events or people. But what they have to offer is too compelling to adherents: a sense of belonging, forbidden knowledge, simple ways of looking at the world, self-importance, the ability to troll others, a more socially acceptable form of distasteful values… the actual details aren’t always fully believed or even that important.
Did the elephant have three balls?
It’s hard to miss the strike zone, but it’s not worth angering an elephant.
My QAnon coworker had her bank account emptied by some fraudster. She thinks it was done by our payroll department because they are “the only people she’s ever given her banking details to”
A couple of years ago she was scammed by some “elder” in her church. She refused to believe it until the guy actually fled the country.
I’m betting she’s now been scammed by someone posing as a Q-leader. Who knows, maybe even a true believer.
These are the situations where I think running credit reports on potential hires isn’t the worst idea…
It’s almost like I said that a handful of posts earlier or something.
It’s hard to believe that we miss Michelle Bachmann for being crazy, but there it is. We were living in a golden age but didn’t realize it.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between a golden age and a golden shower.
OK, you may need to sit down for this, but MTG is also…anti-Semitic! I know this may be hard to believe.
Apparently, she claimed that some California wildfire was started by PG&E and “Rothchild Inc” using space lasers.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is in a renewed spotlight due to recently uncovered social media posts where she supports a galactic and anti-Semitic conspiracy that a Jewish-financed laser beam ignited wildfires in California.
I checked multiple sources and I don’t think I’ve been duped by satire, although these days it’s hard to tell.
