There apparently have been a multitude of ongoing investigations about Scott Pruitt and his escapadesat the EPA.
Now that he has resigned, are those investigations still continuing, with the possibility of him being in legal trouble? Or is it all over because he’s gone?
Some of them have been shelved, but nobody has just forgotten what he’s allegedly done.
If he owes the taxpayers money, he ought to repay it, whether or not he’s still in office. Keep after him, sez I.
IOKIRDI, so I suspect ultimately Pruitt will not be held to account for anything.
I just realized this is GQ and that my response above may not have been appropriate. Sorry about that.
The audit on Tom Price just came out. He apparently owes around $400K. Thats all that will happen to him. His lawyers will probably bargain it down and he will pay back the Gov’t. On to the next job for him (he has 2 right now).
As for Pruitt-I am sure there will be audits and reviews. Some time next year the audit will come back and he will probably owe money.
In the meantime, according to news reports he is doing fine-the political structure in Oklahoma feels that most of the complaints were politically motivated and they are welcoming him back home.
the real cost for these folks is the lost opportunity to stay in and grow more power. If Price had stayed in office, he would have have had a shot at structuring the medical insurance market for a long time. And that would have been worth a lot. Pruitt is in the same situation. Just look at what happened with the new tax law. The people in congress that actually wrote the bill are now cashing in with various firms that are looking for loopholes for wealthy clients. Can’t get better help than the people who wrote the bill.
That’s okay, I didn’t understand it.
A factual question related to OP: How is Pruitt now viewed in states like Oklahoma? Is he considered a martyr to a great cause?
Perhaps the Mods are busy Googling your indecipherable word to see if a note is warranted. Here’s Google’s top hit for IOKIRDI … even though that column is about IOKIYAR and IACIYAD and doesn’t mention IOKIRDI.
Sorry to have been so cryptic. I thought the acronym IOKIRDI “It’s OK if Republican’s do it” would have been easy to decipher.
Anyway, upon reread I thought it was more snarky than is appropriate for this forum, hence my apology. I guess it was lucky for me no one figured it out.
