Boy, has she fallen off the radar screen since the debacle of her “firing” from The View. Let me make this perfectly clear, though: she has had -more- than her fifteen minutes of fame IMHO (certainly more than she ever deserved …:D). But after the initial flurry of press back in June, there has been nothing about Star other than a blip about Payless dropping her as spokesperson. Er, not renewing her contract, excuse me. I never thought she wore their shoes in the first place, FWIW.
With the dearth of press on Star, though, I find that I am missing being able to snark about her! While that perhaps reveals a weakness in my character, I’m wondering if anyone else misses Star-snarking also. The second anniversary of the Jones-Reynolds marriage is coming up in November … will they still be married by then? Wonder if Al has found a job yet? Someone must be supporting their lifestyle …
I saw The View a few times when it was first aired and I liked Jones all right. She was outspoken but articulate and somewhat reasonable.
Haven’t watched the show recently, but I did hear that Jones used it as a vehicle to promote her shamefully extravagent wedding in an attempt to get “freebies.” It made her look greedy and tacky. And her petulant departure from the show, basically giving the finger to the woman who had enriched her all those years, was the last straw.
Actions=reactions. The more she speaks, the more people are put off.
I too miss the trainwreck that was Star Jones on The View. Now, I cannot stand the woman, but she she sure was fun to watch, in a gawking, rubbernecking sort of way.
Her marriage to Big Gay Al is in trouble? Say it isn’t so!
Ha, thanks for the links, Astro; Star’s personal website is one of the worst ego trips I’ve seen, unfortunately. So awful, you can’t even snark about it in good conscience.
Well, she has made her own bed (…and probably in more than one sense of it!) and will have to lay in it; whether or not Al is there is probably a whole 'nother question!! She was good to snark about, though–and the worst thing is that she was not always that way. Seems to me that she started going down the path to ruin when she (guessing here) decided that she seriously wanted (needed?) to be married. Thus started her tumble down the slippery slope, ending face first in a pile of crap. Ya know - I’d just like to ask her … was it all worth it, Star?! Were you asking yourself that question when you had to go to the police station at 4 am to get Al? And did he tell you what he was doing out cruising at 3 am?
I never really liked her much but I actually felt more sympathetic toward her over the whole Rosie O’Donnell thing and I can’t blame her for wanting to go out on her own terms.
What I find amazing is that viewership at The View has gone up since Rosie joined. I find it hard to believe it’s because people like Rosie, I think they are hoping to see Rosie get into a knockdown drag-out fight with one of the other hosts or a guest … I wonder if Tom Selleck is on the guest schedule?
I find Rosie, loud and annoying. For my Lesbian talk show hosts, I’ll stick with Ellen.
