What have you accomplished today?

Not nearly as much as I’d wanted to do - I’ve been fighting off a cold for the past week and a half, and the damn thing just. will. not. die.

Woke up and put loaf of bread in the oven that had been proofing overnight in the fridge

Noodled around online (NY Times, Facebook, SDMB, etc.) Had coffee #1.

By this point, bread was ready (multigrain sourdough). Had some of that for breakfast, one slice with cheese and another with sour cherry jam

Bath, etc.

Walked to couple of local grocery stores (2 Middle Eastern, one general with strong ethnic component) in search of things forgotten during Friday night’s main grocery run: Aleppo pepper, green onions, Cotija cheese

Came home, made huge 6 qt. Crock-Pot full of sweet and sour stuffed cabbage, more or less my grandmother’s recipe

Took nap

Talked to Dad, my aunt, ordered baby present for cousin who just had baby

Load of sheets is currently in the washer

Not yet done: clearing stuff out of the living room and off the kitchen island

Lemme check my to-do list, conveniently located on a pad next to my laptop:
replied to a particular e-mail about work
did most of my laundry
researched ticket options and menu information for next weekend’s trip to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival (!)
clipped my nails
Visited my parents, dropping off the cuff links and tie clip I found in the safety deposit box
checked the water chemistry in the hot tub
watered the plants
emptied and started to fill the dish washer
sewed a button back on a pair of shorts

Not on the list, but still accomplished:
grocery shopping
bought a dust buster to keep in the garage for the car
rode the exercise bike for half an hour

Well, I accomplished the rest of the stuff I meant to do. I feel like there’s something else I’d like to accomplish today, but I can’t think of it.

Oh yeah, I downloaded my pictures and charged up my cameras. The second one is still charging.

Did the Run for the Cure with my little one.

Drank two cups of coffee while I browsed the computer and listened toA Prairie Home Companion.

Finally got my suitcase unpacked from vacay and organized upcoming laundry.

Made bed with clean sheets.

Spent time on phone with five classmates and organized a lunch and visit to the Spam Museum in Austin, MN tomorrow.

Emptied the dishwasher.

Repeatedly dried cats who kept going out in the rain and then returned complaining that they were wet.

Did fingernails.

The amusement never ends.

As a birthday present, I took my friend to Gravity, then to lunch at In N Out, then for a tour of the Winchester Mystery House.

Today I’m tired. I’m tired of taking care of everybody. This list is what I did today, with no help. (Yesterday I took my granddaughters to the museum, or I would have had two days to do all of this.)

  • Made coffee.
  • Fed the dogs breakfast.
  • Made breakfast.
  • Cleaned up breakfast dishes.
  • Did 6 loads of laundry, including bed linens.
  • Put away all the clothes, except my husband’s underwear and socks - that I had to tell him to do.
  • Picked up a precription at CVS.
  • Planned the dinner menu for the week, clipped coupons, and went to the grocery store. Brought in the groceries. Put away all the groceries. Plus I went to a second store looking for a specialty ingredient, that I didn’t find.
  • Took out the trash, twice.
  • Cooked dinner. (Ribs, homemade potato salad, baked beans, and corn on the cob.)
  • Fed the dogs dinner.
  • Did the dinner dishes.
  • Made the bed with fresh linens. I had help with this one, by yelling at my husband to help me.
  • Made a practice cheesecake for my tryout next weekend.
  • Set up the coffeemaker for tomorrow morning.

Really, I’m just pissed off because my husband was at the bar watching football all day and didn’t help me. Yesterday he mowed the grass in the backyard. Today he paid bills. These tasks don’t take that long. And he forgot to bring the baby’s stroller in from the back of my SUV, even though I asked him once last night, and once today. I pulled a muscle in my back from wrestling with it yesterday, which is why I asked him in the first place.

TL;DR:

I guess I’m mad at my husband.

Folded a few loads of laundry (washed yesterday, the folding elves didn’t appear overnight).
Caught up on some DVR’d shows from the past week.
Pulled out my sewing, contemplated working on it.
Made spaghetti and garlic fry bread for dinner.
Held the couch down.

Bought some more investment grade silver, polished it.

Woke up before 4. Came down to copy edit a paper for an online journal. Downloaded it as an email attachment and discovered that someone or likelier something had formatted it so that every line was broken at the 75th column, usually in the middle of a word. Not my job to put this together, so I wrote to the authors, telling them to find a better way of sending me the paper.

Having nothing better to do, I started reading TSD. It is now nearly 6 and I will do my wakeup exercises and make breakfast.

Well, it’s only 6am

I have made over 150 flashcards, done two loads of laundry, updated my journal, had (and lost) an argument with a dog.
I still have about 2 hours before I have to get ready for school/work. I’m not sure what to do with myself now.

Got the toddler dressed, coiffed, and shod, then delivered her to playschool. Delivered my car to the shop to have new tires put on. Drank my coffee. It’s 8:33. I need to wash clothes today.

Fed baby. Changed baby. Got baby to sleep. Fed baby. Changed baby. Got baby to sleep. Fed baby…

Today so far I have signed for a delivery of wine (thanks honey!), finished one conference call in which I did not threaten to kill a fool who deserved it and fed the dogs.

Yesterday was great, I spent the day at the Home show pricing kitchen installations, Air conditioners, water heaters, hardwood floor installation and appliances.

Came home and showered both dogs, finished a couple loads of laundry and cleaned the kitchen.

7 months to the new house and the budget is coming together. It would be in awesome shape if someone wanted to hand me a very large cheque but as that’s unlikely it’s just in good shape so far

I love a thread like this. 'Cause I’m just nosey, I guess.

Would appreciate some detail on these sandwiches.

“Slept in” til 3 AM? Then went shopping… to a 24-hour Wal-Mart?

I can understand the cats’ points of view: Stay strong and refuse to give in to physical reality.

For myself, yesterday Thunder Puppy woke me up at 4 due to small rainstorm. So I walked the dogs EARLY am, around 6:30.
Fed cats.
Made soup.
Read some of my book club book (I’m the host for this book next month.)
Watched several episodes of L&O:SVU.
Walked dogs again pm.

Today
Walked dogs am.
Fed cats.
Drank tea.
Browse computer… still doing that.

Temporarily caught up on chores (laundry, dishes, beds, yard), so just sitting quietly waiting for entropy to take its toll.

I have figured out that pretty much my reason for existing is to walk, feed, and give treats to my dogs. That’s how they see it anyway.

Let’s see…

Cured cancer, drew up a plan for everlasting peace in the middle east, took a dump, whipped up a formula for cold fusion…

Nothing, really.

Some people here really need to look into sleeping.

Our cats used to look outside, see snow, and look at us like we personally did that to them just so they couldn’t go outside and lounge in the yard.

Today I have had breakfast, played with the cat, and watched two back episdodes of “Craig Ferguson,” and now I have to go for a walk to the library and the grocery store. There is a strike at the grocery store and I plan to cross the scab line, so that might be interesting.

I’m all caught up in housecleaning, pre Thanksgiving weekend house guests. I kinda let things degrade a bit knowing a big clean was on the horizon. A decision I always regret. (Also, whoever thought of putting more than one toilet in a house deserves to be taken out and shot, in my opinion.)

Cleared the big bulletin board in the kitchen, it’s a seasonal thing, and a big job.

I’ve also entirely prepped and fetched all the ingredients for a dinner of Thai green curry, mmmmm!

::::::grumble, grumble::::::: off to clean ANOTHER bathroom!

And, after dinner, the kitchen!

I have not yet fallen asleep at my desk, and that is today’s proudest accomplishment.

Show off. I just cured world hunger today and then took a break. Tomorrow I’m going show the congress how to make and pass a budget because I like to save the tough stuff for last.
