Every SINGLE FUCKING time someone pits Dio, I just want to scream “you are pitting the wrong person!”.

You need to pit the dumbasses that respond to his bullshit. If you see a Dio post that is disagreeable, don’t fucking respond. You and everyone else knows what he does to a thread.

Just wanted to point out I enjoyed every minute of my interactions with Dio in the linked thread and in this thread.

The purpose of opening up this thread was to widen the possibilities of response. In the IMHO thread I had to carefully refer to his post and censor some of the things I thought were funny at the time.

I’ve never really interacted with Dio before but have seen a few posts of his in the past that pretty much ruled him out of any reasonable conversation in my mind, so it’s not like I didn’t know what I was dealing with.
Dio, I will say that you expertly toe the line and stay in character, although with your exchange with Czarcasm, it looked like you relented a little bit towards the end, which did cause me to lose a little respect. But don’t worry, you are still Hall of Fame material.

I was only messing around, but just look at this rubbish. A genuine poster would have written one post saying, “You all seem to think I am a troll, but I assure you I am not, I just dont do it.”

A genuine poster tired of being accused of trolling would have answered the criticism, or just ignored it.

For everyone who is saying “Ignore him” or “Just don’t engage”, how are new posters to this board supposed to know that? The old timers have obviously seen enough to know this, but once in a while, there are newbies who think it’s all genuine discussion until they hit that obstinate wall. But by then, you have the recurring situation of a simple discussion being derailed into pages after page of tedious conversation that have minimal resemblance to the original discussion. And once in a while, there is a subsequent pit thread. Is this some weird rite of passage for the SDMB?

I am currently seeing ads for vaseline, condoms, and PTSD therapy services.

Dio, don’t you do rehabilitative assistance with folks in their home or something like that? Curious, do you ever have discussions with them like you do with posters here on the board, ones where the disagreement is carried and accentuated for a substantial period of time?

I don’t mean to be nosy and don’t answer if that intrudes too far into your personal life. I can’t help but wonder though how those two things reconcile with each other.
