What’s the best SDMB forum? And why? I’m a GQ guy myself. I’ve got so much ignorance, I don’t know what to do with it.
I have to second GQ. I have always been a big fan of actual facts, rather than conjecture or opinion.
I think Great Debates is great for learning when you first arrive (well, still is), but the same arguments get repeated over and over, so once you have been reading here for a while it starts to lose interest.
When a new topic (or poster) raises its head, then I’ll follow the thread with interest, although I rarely post over there.
IMHO is interesting for polls and general information, but gets a good amount of inane crap too (IMHO ;)).

I find GQ is good for just that…GQ.
However IMHO is much more enjoyable, more variety, and a whole lot more activity.
As far as the other?
I seldom find much interest in debating Cecil or his staff’s stuff.
The cafe and MPSIMS jus simply do not have much to say.
And I detest the vulgarity of the Pit.

So my vote goes for IMHO!
Im kind of partial to the Pit. I like seeing the creative use of language to display extreme emotion 
But GQ is good when Im not in a hurry.
Nothing beats a 5 page flame war in the pit.

I’m a bottom four forum gal myself…Cafe Society, IMHO, MPSIMS, and the Pit. I’ll wander over to GD once in awhile, but I’m scared to mix anything up unless I have an armload of cites at the ready.
I’ve been note to post a GQ once or twice…

Oddness.
I do enjoy GQ, but I like this one (IMHO) the best. Real people’s experiences with real things, and real opinions, not some textbook answer. Café Society is neat too. I’ve never been a debater, so I stay out of GD.
Personally, I think GQ is the only forum that truly shows what the Straight Dope is all about.

I’m with you SpoilerVirgin. Personally, I find that it varies greatly. Sometimes there might be good threads on one forum and the others are stale and uninteresting. Keep moving around and you’ll find something.
Generally, I always start in GQ, and skim the first page to see if there’s anything in there that I want to know the answer to, or if it’s something obscure that I only thought I knew, I’ll see how somebody else answered it. Otherwise, not enough time to read everything. From there, I usually go to either MP, CS or IMHO…whichever one I haven’t been to in the longest and read through threads that seem interesting. I never go into the other ones (GD if I am REALLY bored)…although I think I may go take a look in the BBQ pit now…
I think the BEST one is IMHO. Always provides the most satisfaction for me!
