Homemade berry muffin.
Half a jar of almond spread.
Carne asada burritos with mixed cheeses, peach salsa and extra hot sauce.
Mixed nuts. Half a bag from the market featuring: Cashews, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Pecans, Hazelnuts, Macadamias. No added salt. Freaking delicious. $4 a bag, so I ate about $2 worth. Pretty good deal for a light lunch.
A small steak and kidney pie from one of my favourite bakers. Sadly everyone else’s favourite baker, suddenly, it seems. The last two times I’ve been in they’ve had no baps left by mid-morning.
Chili cheese fries (urp).
On my way home from a doctor appointment, I stopped at the farmers’ market. Among other things I bought a container of home-made croutons. I started munching on them in the car, and by the time I got home there were none left.
That’s so weird. That happens to me sometimes too. And it’s not always croutons. I think there’s some sort of force field over NE Ohio that causes it.*
*That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
Brunch this morning was a Spanish omelette, hash browns, sourdough toast OJ and coffee. Actually, the thing was so big it was a full-fledged omel.
Salami and swiss on a hoagie roll with Italian dressing, and some Trader Joe’s cheese crunchies.
Home made vegetable soup that I spilled too much garlic powder into but managed to salvage.
Also had pate and bread on the side served with a kosher deli pickle. Best pickle ever.
Big-ass salad with about 20 ingredients, including lettuce and strawberries from my garden. It was delish.
a mixture of pau bhaj, peas, lentils. bacon ground beef, chinese sausages, teriyaki sauce, and sirachia sauce.
Brains!
Now send more paramedics…
Half a packet of salted peanuts.
A meatball grinder, which is not something that I usually ate.
Just got back from dinner with other writers from the workshop
An oatcake with ginger Wensleydale cheese.
My first attempt at chickpea masala, with diced tomatoes and green peas added. And brown basmati rice. It’s OK. Didn’t realize the tomatoes and tomato paste had citric acid added, then used a little too much lemon juice, so I added a little more curry and masala and a dollop of honey to balance it out. If I use the same brand tomato product again I may need to skip the lemon. Not bad for a first try though.
I just finished a bowl of Special K.
A bowl of porridge. The best thing about winter.
