There is nothing that will make my knees melt more than a woman with an Irish accent. No other voice even comes close. goes to listen to The Thistle and Shamrock on NPR in rapt bliss
For least attractive, I would have to say most asian accents. Maybe it is that with the structure of the languages being utterly different, the accents become alien and hard to identify,I just do not like most asian accents.
Most attractive, English, with the best English regional accent being Liverpool. And not just because of the Beatles (though John Lennon and George Harrison’s speaking voices are both pretty attractive, in my opinion). Second, probably a moderately strong Irish accent.
Worst…either Asian, for the reasons you mentioned, Maud’Dib, or a guy with a Southern accent, though I’ve seen some men pull it off okay…just not many. French accents don’t do anything for me, either.
I just watched ‘quills’. I may be biassed but hearing the perfect english ladylike accent coming from something as divinely beautiful as Amelia Warner kind of helps the case for ‘old posh english’.
(the link is just one picture, and it doesn’t do her anywhere near the justice that watching the film did, so the joy of googling to find anything better is left to those that are interested. Please feel free to post or e-mail a link if you find anything you think I will like)
Ya, but Florida is full of transplanted New Yawkers. And, even though my family hails from Texas, I just don’t find the Texas accent all that attractive.
A woman with a nice, rich, drawling Southern accent is quite a turn-on.
Scottish/Irish/Austrailian accents are nice too.
I dated a Canadian girl once, and her slight Sudbury-area lilt was very cute. Also the fact that she said “pop” instead of “soda” and did in fact say “eh” a few times.
My least favorite accents are Asian accents. I don’t know why, but the different structures of the language just don’t make for a pleasant-sounding cadence when they speak English.
And, despite the fact that I live in Maryland, I cringe sometimes when I hear a attractive woman talking in a Baltimore accent. It’s never “How are you?”, it’s always “Hah yoo?”
British by far. Irish next up, with Scottish on it’s heals. And Spanish (Think Antonio Banderas or the Inigo Montoya character from Princess Bride). ooh
I love accents and since I’ve lived for a long time in the Pacific Northwest, my own is depressingly boring. I agree with all the Irish/Scottish/Bristish choices and I love Spanish and French too. The best American accent is from Savannah, Georgia.
