What is the point of this "Tagged!" thing?

A friend just sent me an invitation to something called “Tagged!” and like a complete fucking idiot I signed up. The registration agreement was all boilerplate stuff, so it looked innocent enough, and I put down a fake birth date because I never put my real birthday anywhere on the Internet.

But now I’m having second thoughts. First of all, I don’t know what the point is. Second, I already spend an inordinate amount of time deleting updates from my “friends” on Goodreads, the hell of it being that most of these people actually are my friends, who could have emailed me to rave about some book or even actually sent me the book. It looks liked the Tagged! thing is probably even worse, as at least the people on Goodreads are literate.

Third, after following the welcome link I learned that I just earned $2,000 for signing up, and something about how I could use it to buy people to own as pets. WTF? And how can I undo this monstrous error in judgment? Need answer fast; quick before somebody buys me.

The whole “buying people as pets” is a fad of myspace and such… I’m 100% sure that its all fake dollars and frankly, it makes no sense to me.

In any case, you signed up for a social networking thing that appears to appeal to people in the 16ish age range.

I don’t think you have to worry too much about your computer or bank account or nuclear codes being hacked… Waste of your time, however? Probably.

Yeah, I figured the 16 age group when it asked for my graduate date.

Oddly enough, the friend who sent me this is 52. And, uh, recently divorced, which I bet explains the whole thing.
