What is the political composition of the Teeming Millions? Post here! (poll)

Ohio

I’m a person of peculiar contrasts: while I’m an electrical engineer and practicing Catholic, I’m also a freedom-loving, gun-toting patriot. I’d classify myself as 50% conservative, 50% libertarian, and 0.0000% liberal. I don’t belong to a political party, unless you consider the Gun Owners of America (GOA) to be one…

New York

Republican

Moderate/Liberal (depends on the issue)

Massachusetts

Republican/Libertarian

Socially Liberal/Fiscally Conservative

Well, what did you expect? Our membership IS devoted to combating ignorance.
New York City
Democrat
Roosevelt/Trotskyite New Deal Socialist

Sweden.

I am a member and active politician (I am a member of a District City Council in Stockholm) in Moderaterna (probusiness, taxcutters, with mixed elements of libertarianism and conservatism).

I guess I belong to the more libertarian wing of the party.

Ohio

No party

Um,um,um- On social stuff/civil rights I guess I lean to the liberal, everything else moderate.

Virginia

I was a Democrat when I lived in NY, but Virginia doesn’t have automatic party registration/closed primaries, so none now.

My political philosophy is anachronistic. It’s probably closest to that of the Radical Republicans of the 1860’s-70’s…sort of corpratist-socialist, expansionist, with a commitment to equal rights and the end of racism.

California

Green (was registered Democrat until the 2000 election, where I was horrified by the behavior of both Democrats and Republicans).

Liberal

Kentucky

Independent

Moderate

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, H. Ross Perot!!!

I’d guess that it’s because the SDMB attracts smart people, and conservatives are dumber than liberals.

Missouri (born and raised here)

REPUBLICAN

I am not opposed to voting against republicans on certain things, but I think they have a clearer more realistic view on what can actually be done. Gun control is a big issue for me, and the democrats are always trying to take away my guns! (scared? 23 year old girl who LOVES her guns–or actually just loves her RIGHT to have them).

Also I believe that Democrats try to make it LOOK like they are changing things, when they are actually just changing appearances.

AND by the way, am I the only person who gets so sick of Hollywood putting down Republicans? MAN, I hate that.

Thank you.

I live in Quebec, Canada, and I’m a card-carrying member of the New Democratic Party, for whom I stood in my riding in the last federal election.

I’m far left in social issues and, hm, slightly to the left of moderate left (a social democratic capitalist) in economic issues.

You’re my kinda woman! Glad to see I’m not the only freedom lover here on the SDMB…

What country or state are you from?

Born in California (maybe that’s my root;)) . . . currently in Virginia, close to DC.

What party are you affiliated with (if any)?

None, really. I share some views with the major parties but my differences are too important to me too ally with either, so to speak.

What political philosophy do you ascribe to?

Again, none. I’m mostly liberal except for my stance on abortion. I have yet to find a political party or philosophy that matches up with me, one doper’s attempt to sway me in favor of libertarians notwithstanding:)

Maryland

Independent

Moderate, right-leaning

What country or state are you from?
Born in New York, grew up in Maine, now reside in California, considering move to Oregon.

What party are you affiliated with (if any)?
The only party I’ve ever registered with was the Democratic party. However I now choose to affiliate with no party. So I guess that makes me Independant, but even that is too much of an affiliation for my tastes.

What political philosophy do you ascribe to?
Hard to pin down. I am what I am and that’s all that I am.
At times I can be a bleeding heart liberal. At others I can at least lean toward jack-booted conservative. I appreciate tenets of the Libertarian platform as well as the Green Party platform.

I guess if I had to pin it down Left Leaning is the closest I can get.

Arizona for the last 7 years; Ohio the 25 before that

Libertarian Anarcho-Capitalist

Registered with the Libertarian Party because I’m willing to work for smaller government/strict constitutionalism until the goal of no government can be achieved.

Born in Indiana, grew up in Georgia, currently in Arizona

Registered: Republican

Beliefs in a nutshell: Fiscally conservative, socially libertarian, environmentally liberal

Florida, native of New Jersey

Registered as Republican

Libertarian mostly, with traces of conservative and green.
