What is there to do in Phoenix, Arizona?

I go to Phoenix quite a bit.

But: I’m certifiably nuts. Here’s what >I< do.

I rent a car.

I get a list of all the used book shops in Phoenix, Tempe, mesa, etc.

I visit 'em all and buy books.

No kidding.

First time I did this, I had so many books I had to leave clothes behind… NO ROOM!

Yes, I have a lot of books

I don’t think I’ll be able to make the 23rd because I’ll probably be driving home that day. How about the 16th? Is there a cool bar or something in the area that’s not too loud or incredibly crowded on a Saturday night?

Mauvaise, either Saturday works for us if we decide soon enough as we’re going to be in Tucson the othe weekend once it’s decided.

Why don’t we make it the 16th, then? Dreamer can’t make it on the 23rd.

I’m leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow morning for my audition and I won’t be back until Saturday afternoon. I’ll try to have my SO check this thread to see what you all have decided on. I should be able to check in before we leave for Phoenix on Sunday and then after that I’ll have to either find a library or a Kinko’s to check in. Maybe I can exchange cell#'s with one of you in case something changes at the last minute. Email mehere if you can do that.

Oh and what is the weather like in Phoenix right now?

Looking forward to getting together

Of course the email address I linked to doesn’t have the http:// in it :smack:

Weather is nice in Phoenix. Short sleeves for the most part but it may get a little cooler in the next few weeks.
my phone # is 602.405.0670

Weather is pretty chilly (to me) in the mornings and evenings. Pants and sweatshirt type chilly. I miss summer. :frowning:

I’ll e-mail you my cell number, dreamer, just in case you don’t get a chance to check this thread again.

Hmm. Lucky I wandered in here.

The 16th works for me, assuming there’s not a lot of shpendy stuff going on. Unemployed, you know. And also assuming it’s not a late night - I have a training session for my part-time Christmas job the next morning…

The 16th looks good enough here so far. I’m not sure if I’ll have my cell phone or not then. By the way, if you decide to check your email at the library, I suggest the Scottsdale library, especially Civic Center branch. (About 10 miles from Tempe Diablo Stadium, IIRC.) In my experience, it has shorter wait times than most area libraries, and the Civic Center branch computer lab (when open for general use) has fast computers. (I don’t know if you have to be a county resident to use their computers for free, might want to call and ask.)

I was planning on e-mailing you this morning with all the information. I wouldn’t have let you miss this

I used to go there when I was about 18. The Coffee Plantation was always touted as being “Better than Bentley’s” (Tucson) but I never found it to be so. I was too young for the bars so I missed out on that.

I also suggest going to Tucson. Phoenix sucks. In Tucson there is the Sonoran Desert Museum (more like a nifty zoo than a museum), Mt Lemmon, the zoo is pretty good, the planetarium is excellent…

As for bookstores, they don’t come better than Bookman’s.

Btw, I’m going to be in Tucson over Christmas, if anyone wants to plan a dopefest then

Mauvaise… you MISS SUMMER?? You are a sick, sick individual. 25 years in Tucson is what made me hate summers and practically worship winters with snow.

Possibly, but I’ve been freezing the last week or so, in the mornings. I hate that. I despise being cold. It took me until this summer, but I’ve grown used to the extreme heat and can deal with it. I like it a whole lot better than 55 +/- degree mornings. brrrrr :: shivers ::

Just wondering if we are still getting together or not?? We’re leaving for Phoenix early tomorrow morning but I’ll try to check this thread before we go. If not I’ll try to find that Library (thank you lel)

If you get really bored, you can rise from the ashes.

Ashes??

As far as I’m concerned we are. So that’s at least one person

One is most certainly better than none

So I’m here in Phoenix at the Kinko’s at 2nd and Washington I think. I’m still down for getting together on Saturday if you all still want too. We’re staying right down the street from here on Van Buren and 7th st. Great area I must say! ;D We’re staying in corporate apartments that are very nice but once we walk outside the gate I guess it’s sort of the red light district.

We went to Sodona on Monday and it was beautiful. Today we went to the Arizona Mills mall and old town Scottsdale.

I will try to check this thread again before Saturday but in case I can’t ** Mauvaise **, maybe you can give me a call on my cell and let me know what’s up. Even if it’s just you :).

I might be able to score some comp tickets if anyone is interested too.

I’m off to check some email and surf around a bit and then I’ll check back if I don’t use all my money here at 20 cents a minute!
