Nice area: just don’t head west. You get to about Van Buren and 35th Ave and it gets pretty scary.
Van Buren and 7th street is just around the corner from my office. I could walk there in less than 5 minutes.
I suppose I should e-mail everyone and see what they say about what they want to do Saturday night. I’ll give you a call when I know more.

I’ll add to Padeye’s comment, if you like old aeroplanes, WWI and WWII, the Champlin Fighter Museum in Mesa is good. Cheap to get in, and a great collection.
There are some good clubs in PHX and Scottsdale with live music. Check the Thurs. AZ Republic’s Rep, or the New Times.
Let me know when/where ya’ll are going to get together for the Dopefest and I’ll try to join.
Go to a Cardinal’s game. They need all the fans they can get.

I must second the nomination for Phoenix’s used bookstores–they are absolute heaven. I went to a couple while I was on a business trip there and had to purchase an extra suitcase for my return trip.
Also, their museums are pretty cool. There were a lot of other things that looked interesting (desert tours, etc.) that I didn’t have time to do. It’s definitely a great place, but remember to drink lots of water!
