What is this song?

OK, so I was driving home through an area where I was unfamiliar with the radio stations and stopped on one of those new no-DJ-all-automated stations that play a seemingly random selection of music from just about any time period. Their motto is, “We’'ll play anything!” which I tend to follow by saying, “No matter how Crappy it is!”

Anyway, they played a truly terrible 80’s hair band sounding ballad about a guy who telling his wife/girlfriend Beth that he was terribly sorry but he had to spend another two hours at least hanging out with the boys because they were just about to get a song right. He made, “I’ll be home a little late because we’re havin fun,” (not a quote from the song) sound like, “I’m off to Iraq and will probably die before I can make it home.” Very treacly.

I have a great need to share this song with some friends (I was driving home from a weekend with old buddies during which one of their wives practically threatened divorce because he hung out with us too much) but have been unable to locate it yet. Anyone recognize it?

Gotta be “Beth” by Kiss.

Full lyrics here.

Got it in one. Thanks.

You’re welcome.

Actually, I’m fairly pleased. I don’t think I’ve ever been fast enough to be the first responder before. Being correct is simply a bonus.

I always wondered if that was written before the divorce, or after.
