what is this song?

I’m pretty sure it’s a song from the 60’s. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something from Hair because it’s definitely hippyish. Let The Sunshine In/ Age of Aquarius, The New Seekers living in perfect harmony type song.
I think the majority of the song is song by a male singer, but the part I can hear in my head (the hook) sounds like a female or a boyish male voice. (The Cowsills?) I know this isn’t exactly right because nothing comes up in google lyrics, but I’ll give you what I got in my head. The girl sings:
“Things are wonderful now, it seems we gotta get it together, seems we gotta carry on, it seems we gotta get it together…” She sings it kinda fast and sing songy. Then the male voice kicks in singing the verse.
I’m sure I’m way off but there you go.
Thanks…

Something In The Air” ?

Reach out of the darkness By Friends and lovers.

My first (and only) thought as well. Song makes me want to kill things.

That’s it Rolandgunslinger! I would’ve never got it on my own. I never even heard of this group, but that’s definitely the song. I guess my description of it wasn’t too way off. Thanks. I can sleep now.
Thanks for your help too blondebear. I could see how you would suggest that song. Great song by the way.

You’re not gonna be able to sleep with that song in your head . Believe me.

Yeah, you’re right. It’s a crazy hook. It’s weird when you have a song running through your head and you have no idea who it is or if you have the words right.

I always thought they were singing “Freak out in the darkness.”

Nitpick: The group (actually a husband-and-wife duo, Jim and Cathy Post) was called “Friend & Lover”. They released one LP, a listen to which will leave one with the distinct impression that Jim was doing a lot of acid at the time. One song, “Ode to a Dandelion”, must be heard to be believed; it contains the following memorable couplet (please imagine this being sung in a very earnest way, with the conviction of someone delivering an important insight):
What if a dandelion could talk?
We’d be so careful where we’d walk!
