Shoelaces. Definitely. They must be thin and crispy, heavily salted, peppered, and served with ketchup or mustard. No skins. Fat cuts like wedges and steak fries are mushy and nasty and not worth the cholesterol. I’m looking at you, Wendy’s.
Curly, heavily seasoned fries from Arby’s or Jack in the Box are also good.
It’s a toss up between crinkle cut or steak fries. Hashbrowns aren’t exactly fries, but I like those also. I don’t put fries on hamburgers but I do hashbrowns. Good!

OUT with the shoestrings (especially Steak-n-Shake)!! They get cold WAY too fast for me. Thick-cut, steak fries, potato wedges (with cheese), lots of salt and ketchup. Arby’s curly fries are good too. Johnny Rockets has good fries (at least they used to when I worked there) - but the secret is to ask for some of the burger seasoned salt on the side. It’s got like 43 different spices in it. Their cheese fries are good - but the CHILI cheese fries are the best. MMMMMMM!!! Also, anyone in the midwest familiar with BW3? They coat their potato wedges with some magical stuff then top them with cheese. (Do you get the feeling that I like cheese on my potato products? But it must be REAL cheese - none of that weird fake orange goo they call melted cheese.)
Oh - anyone else like to dip their fries in chocolate shakes? Sounds bizarre, but the flavors meld quite nicely. (Wendy’s fries with a Frosty make a nice combo.)

Waffle cut fries seem really popular. It’s amazing that we don’t see them more often in restaurants.
Wendy’s is the ONLY place where I will do this. Maybe it’s due to the lack of dairy in a frosty that makes it the most condusive to chocolate dessert dipping.

I always liked squishing my fries as a kid. I’d rip them open, dump out the contents, and tell my parents: “Hey! Somebody hid mashed potatoes in here!”
I was a pretty ignorant kid. Anyway, steak fries are my favorite.
