It’s very difficult for me to pick just one. “TiK ToK” is the one that really put her on the map, but there are so many others I love. “Take It Off,” “Blow,” “Crazy Beautiful Life,” and “Cannibal” come to mind immediately. I ended up voting for “TiK ToK,” but mainly because of its primacy rather than the fact that I like it better than the others. Only 17 days until I see her in concert!

I’m going to go ahead and agree with jamiemcgarry here. I feel like the Venn Diagram of Dopers and Ke$ha fans is two circles that are tangent to each other.
I fount Kesha loathsome until I read an interview in which she came across as smart, modest, and very intently “playing a character.” She’s somebody who saw a niche for disgusting club pop and decided to fill it. I recall her saying she’s uncomfortable at parties and doesn’t really like going out or drinking. I have nothing but props for somebody who can fake it to the top like that.
I already kinda suspected this about her – the guys in 3oh!3 (who she released a duet single with) are sorta friends of my sister, and she describes them as low key, friendly guys who just like entertaining and have a good sense of humor about themselves.
I haven’t heard many of her songs, but I love the Tik Tok video, and the fact that they did the song on Glee with my favorite character playing the role of Kesha. Britney IS Kesha, lol.
Somebody’s going to sing dance trash songs. I’d rather it be somebody with a head on their shoulders willingly creating an over-the-top stage persona than somebody who believes Jack Daniels and Listerine are more-or-less the same thing.
Not the one, I don’t think. That one actually makes her seem like a generic hipster (having your mind blown by Bill Bryson, really, Kesha?). I remember the interview I read involved her dismissing the alcohol references in her songs, and I don’t see that here.
The first song of hers I heard was “Blah Blah Blah”, and it was so over-the-top that it made me laugh. Tik Tok is definitely my favorite, though. So much energy in a single song.
One of my friends was going on and on about how her friend Dave was into Kesha and he sent her a link to this video that was so stupid and…unicorns? For fuck’s sake, unicorns?!
I mean she was seriously pissed off that the video was so silly. She also didn’t know who James van der Beek is.
Anyway she showed it to me and I was like “OMG this is the best video ever!” and I totally “got” Kesha right away. There was no fucking way she was serious about anything and totally knew how to make an over-the-top-cheeky video.
My friend still doesn’t get it and is very angry with Kesha for being so lame.
I didn’t know she had songs other than the Tik Tok one. I actually thought she was a one hit wonder, flash in the pan-type celebrity. The idea of someone counting the days until they get to see her in concert is sort of amusing to me, but maybe I’m not qualified to judge since I haven’t been exposed to her oeuvre.
