What is your most child-like food?

Polar bear. And good on you for the springbok, most people would say it’s a rabbit.

Fun Nuggets. I used to buy them to keep around when my nephews were at the house. They outgrew them years ago but I got used to having them in the freezer so I keep buying them and eating them myself. I found out how make a really close copy of McDonald’s Tangy BBQ sauce.

Scooby Snacks, and no that’s not a euphemism for cannabis edibles. You can really buy these boxes of cinnamon-flavored, bone-shaped wheat snacks, branded with Scooby-Doo, and they’re freaking delicious. I could eat a whole box in one sitting.

That was one of my kid favorites too, though I don’t think I’ve eaten it since college. I have a distinct memory of newly being at college, before I learned to cook for myself, opening a can of ravioli, and eating it right out of the can at room temp.

BTW, more of a rhetorical question, but I wonder what was up with the weird orange coloring of all Chef Boy-R-Dee tomato-based products? Ravioli, Spaghetti-Os, etc etc. Tomato sauce is red.

I feel exactly the same way except I keep the canned lasagna onhand, usually for when I’m not feeling well.

Several things, a lot of which wind up being comfort food for me:

  • Grilled cheese sandwiches
  • Deviled ham sandwiches (I’m not sure how “child-like” deviled ham is, but I’ve been eating deviled ham sandwiches since I was 6)
  • Chef Boy-ar-Dee canned pasta
  • Peanut butter spread on crackers

Gimmee! I’ll be your friend.

It’s a shark swimming down to the left.

Regulary, probably PB&J.

Sometimes I eat boxed macaroni too.

I have relatively young children, so I’ve had a lot of actual kid food in the past decade.

I have to admit that I’ve developed a taste for those super-weird “veggie straws” that bill themselves as a healthier alternative to regular chips/snacks.

I think if you add enough fat to a tomato sauce, it ends up that orange-red color. Vodka sauce is rarely a straight-up pink like you’d imagine, it’s always kind of a pale reddish-orange, even when the tomatoes are as red as can be, and the cream is brilliantly white.

Hot dogs.
My buddy and I will go to Costco after the gym and sit and eat hotdogs.

Peanut butter and banana sandwich. Or, sometimes, peanut butter on a Saltine with a slice of banana on top.

PB&J. Also, PB&H (honey).

Hey barkeep, gimme a tall, cold glass of milk with a shot of Bosco! Gimme a bowl of animal crackers with that too, pilgrim!

Cap’n Crunch Crunchberries
Nestle Quik

I can almost go better than “child-like”. If squeezable baby food just had more calories, I would eat it while running because it is tastier and has more variety than squeezable energy packs and squeezable applesauce, but it is more than twice as expensive and has fewer calories per pound.

Mac and Cheese in a box, but it’s gotta be Kraft. The generic store brands just don’t cut it.

Oooh, I just got a box of those. I’m going to put them in the fridge before eating.

I forgot about Cap’n Crunch. I actually never ate it as a child, because Super Sugar Snaps was the only sugared cereal we had in the house, because it was my dad’s favorite.

Instant Cream of Wheat is another favorite.

I’ve got bananas and bread. And I always have peanut butter.

This thread is dangerous to read when hungry.

I regularly eat Kraft Mac & Cheese, PB&J and bowls of cereal. Although I don’t often get the super sugary cereal other than an occasional box of Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch, and I’ll get monster cereal at Halloween.

Well shit. I forgot I eat those too. Add that to the list.
