A buttered English muffin topped with an over easy egg and bacon. I like it on toast, too. I love breakfast sandwiches. Sometimes a slice of cheddar is nice, but it’s not necessary for me.
Open face sandwich: Piece of lightly toasted pumpernickel with some nova salmon ( Lox? ) on top.
A plain (no egg, no cheese) sausage biscuit with a few drops of tabasco works for me.
Inna had never had one of these until I introduced it in her life and she thinks they are delicious.
As far as fast food breakfast sandwiches go, the Sausage Egg McMuffin reigns supreme but Burger King… as shit as they are… their Croissanwiches are da bomb.
I despise ketchup, except in two situations: on plain scrambled eggs, it just works. Same with on a cheap-ass bologna sandwich.
Lots of good ideas in this thread but it appears someone finally mentioned some spice on the thing. I prefer other hot sauces like Marie Sharp’s or Cholula, but these sandwiches and breakfast burritos need that kick. We make these sorts of breakfast sandwiches at home and throw some Mama Lil’s peppers on them too.
The Chik-fil-a Eggwhite Grill is my go to.
A grilled chicken breast, scrambled egg white, and a slice of cheese on an English muffin. 300 calories, low fat, okay carbs, and a bunch of protein.
Two. The first is an English muffin, toasted, then toasted again with a slice of Velveeta, topped by a scrambled egg (with some Tabasco sauce) and bacon.
The second is an onion or everything bagel, cooked at 320 degrees for 10 minutes in our toaster oven, shmeared with Philadelphia cream cheese and topped with smoked salmon, whitefish or trout which my kids send me for my birthday. Store lox is a good second choice. I made trout for dinner tonight, and some of the leftover is going on a bagel in the morning. Not smoked, but it will do.
Tamagoyaki is an option though you need to be super stingy with thin layers as above. Of course with a very fine chop you could do something like this.
Though with lox instead of tuna. Again very small pieces of your breakfast favorites CAN work but less is more. Or again super thin layers. Best of all, the pan fried exterior makes it pretty easy to eat by hand if you must.
I’ll avoid the fast-food offerings, and go for a BLT. A place like Denny’s is fine, but a real Mom 'n Pop diner does them better. Either way, a BLT is my perfect breakfast sandwich. Add coffee, orange juice, and a side of hash browns, and I’m ready to take on the day.
The nice thing is, that even if a BLT is not on the menu, a good diner cook can whomp one up. They’re not difficult, and any diner that is open for breakfast already has the ingredients and can do one easily.
Mine is simple: Either a biscuit or a bagel with egg and cheese. Sausage is ok, I never trust bacon because I like mine well done. I don’t like it when you bite into the sandwich and the entire piece of rubbery bacon pulls out. Yuck.
Just about any breakfast sandwich is fine with me. The Egg McMuffin is the classic and easy to eat while driving. But the best is the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. A biscuit adds the perfect touch but since it is crumbly it has to beaten over a plate or napkin.
Bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted bagel. If you ever need to put me unconscious without drugs, just give me one of those. I’ll be asleep five minutes after I’m done.
I’m more partial to breakfast tacos myself, but otherwise yeah!
Flour tortilla, sausage or chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheese, peppers, potatoes (sometimes), salsa.
#2 is a toasted plain bagel with cream cheese, good lox, and capers. Sometimes red onions, but I’m not stuck on them.
Has to be some sort of fried/poached egg. Scrambled just does not do it. Even worse the scrambled egg from a container. And the lowest of the low the frozen hockey puck egg like substitute.
Some sort of mild cheddar cheese really is a key to make everything harmonies.
Meat, pig type breakfast meats do well here, corned beef or pastrami could be a reasonable substitute.
Bread, could be a Kaiser roll English muffin or a bagel for top-notch stepping down you have toasted bread and beyond that you have biscuits and any kind of sweet type of bread.
I like the frozen sausage sandwiches from Tennessee Pride and Jimmy Dean. 54 seconds in the microwave and done.
No cheese; cheese is for dinner. And eggs. I don’t like the texture. It’s annoyingly hard to find restaurant breakfast sandwiches without eggs.
Roman Meal bread, ketchup, and LOTS of BACON!
I’m team muffin (brioche bun) egg, bacon, cheese team. But here’s an option I’ve tried.
Yep, I’d prefer a taco over any breakfast that came on a bun, with both the red and green salsa.
I want mine untoasted with jalapeno cream cheese and red onions too, please.
I make my own version of the “McMuffin”. It’s better, and I can make 3 for the cost of 1 of theirs. I toast a sour doe (my fav) English muffin, over-well an egg with a half-slice of sharp cheddar on it, and cover that with a quality preserve, which is usually strawberry, my fav.
