I’ve been feeling the joke’s a bit dated, but changing the SSID would necessitate reconfiguring a 8-10 different devices, several of which would be a pain in the butt to reconfigure.
We always know when new students move in next door when the wireless names change.
The latest bunch were some younger engineering students.
Wireless name: Mr. Harry P. Ness
Mine is the oh so imaginative NETGEAR.
My neighbors NETGEAR54, NETGEAR56, NETGEAR75, and NETGEARRRR are obviously just as brilliant as I am. 
Ours came self-named as Shy Penguin. We saw no reason to change it, because we have no imagination about stuff like that. OK, mostly we just don’t care…
Mine is “FBI Surveillance Van 3”
Whatever name Verizon gave it, I don’t know what it is offhand. I could change it, but then it wouldn’t be conveniently printed on the router.

Well, it’s funny to us.
Mine is “zombieHunter”. It was originally “zombie hunter”, but my phone couldn’t connect to it when there was a space so I camel-cased it. I was really into playing zombie games at the time. Since that’s less true now, I’ve been thinking about changing it. There are some good ones in this thread; I might steal one of yours. 
About half the people in range (I live in an apartment, so there’s quite a few) use the default name for their network. One of the custom names that stands out is “buttplugsgalore”. I always snicker when I see it.

My home wifi is ‘Mind Control Platform MN-034B’.
I named my iPhone ‘Voices in your Head’ so that’s what shows up on people’s lists when I’m using my hotspot.
