I waited on a customer the other day who had tons of tattoos, the whole sleeve thing on both arms. Seemed like a nice guy, though I was a little miffed that he had named his twin daughters almost identical names…think Christine and Christina. So while he’s filling in paperwork I’m discreetly browsing his tattoos…daughter’s names, birthdate, son’s name, birthdate, daggers, roses, faces…I think one was Mae West! and then there, on his wrist, a signature…John Gotti.
So what am I to deduce from this tattoo? Is he a Mafia member, or just a fan, or what? And if he’s either of the above, why would he advertise it? What would a law enforcement officer think when he saw that? I’m sure I’m missing something here, but it puzzled me. Any thoughts?
My guess: He met Gotti on the street one day and thought it would be a cool thing to have Gotti sign his arm. Then he got it inked over to commerate it. I have heard of people doing that when they meet a celebrity.
Probably just some mafia-loving idiot. I come across these people all the time.
You see, my mom’s uncle (my second uncle??) is Mr. Gotti himself. People always want stories of murder and drugs, but I got nothin. He sent awesome presents and nice cards. He went to my grandpa’s funeral (even though he was in prison- they let him come with two Secret Service Agents). My mother loathes his daughter.
ditto. This is obviously a guy who likes “commemorative ink”, based on the others you describe.
And if a guy has that much ink, he’s already going to be in for extra scrutiny by the cops if he ever gets in trouble - I don’t think that one tattoo will make all that much difference, besides a :dubious: or two.
