What Movie Have You Seen the Most Times and Why?

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. :D:D:D Once was enough for that gem.

Forrest Gump and Independence Day are the only 2 movies I actually bought. I enjoy both of them.

Support Your Local Sheriff
Support Your Local Gunfighter
Fire in the Sky. (filmed near where I live)
T2 Judgement Day.
The Green Mile.

There are a lot more, but I’m having brain fade or something.

“Local Hero” and “Tender Mercies.” Two of the finest movies ever made. If you haven’t seen them, take the time.

Casablanca

Why? Because it is only the greatest movie ever made.

In March of 1983 I won a local newspaper contest for picking Oscar winners out of seven nominated categories. The prize was a ticket to all the theaters in town for a year. I saw a lot of movies. So for the most times in theaters my winners would be “Chariots of Fire”, “The Sword and the Sorcerer”, and “Mother Lode” at five times each. An odd mix, but my tastes are various. “Mother Lode” is the only movie with Charlton Heston in which he played a whacked out crazy maniac. I mean, if I was a guy I could think of a lot better things to do with Kim Basinger than tie her up and try to chop her with an ax. For watching on video it’s at least ten times each for “A Man for All Seasons, “Henry V(Branagh)”, The Hunt for Red October”, and “The African Queen”

True Stories, with David Byrne from the Talking Heads. The soundtrack is great.

And put me down for Spinal Tap, too, just because I love Big Bottoms.

SPINAL CLAP RULES!!!

Ok, the debilitating Real Genius addiction aside, these are my other top volume views:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Full Monty
True Romance
True Stories
Sliding Doors
The Tin Drum
Don’t Look Now

I’m sure there are more…

It’s out on DVD now. It includes the hour-long program “The Making of The Dark Crystal.”

It also has working copies of scenes which were not included in the final cut, including: [ul][]the Skeksis emperor’s funeral[]Skeksis scenes originally done in Skeksis language but dubbed for the filmscenes done prior to dubbing (for instance, Augra was performed by Frank Oz and her voice was dubbed later)[/ul]

Waking Ned Divine, Nosferatu the Vampire (W/ Klaus Kinski),
and A Mid-Summer Nights Dream. All consistently enchanting in completely different ways, no matter how often seen.

My favorite movie of all time is The Fighting Sullivan’s. I’ve probably seen it 60 times and it always makes me cry. Just thinking of the line “that’s their fighting walk” can bring tears to my eyes even now. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a must. I also loved The Old Maid enough to watch it at least 50 times and of course Jaws which I have seen all the way through about 25 times but always catch bits and pieces on cable lately.

Sigh…do I want to admit this? OK, there was a time in my life in which I was a bit infatuated with Leonardo DiCaprio (yes, I know, feel free to make fun) so the movie thatr I have seen the most would probably be Titanic. Also the Basketball Diaries. Non DiCaprio movies would have to be the Lion King, Spaceballs, and Monty Python’s Meaning of Life.

Thank you so much! I was just beginning to think I was the only freak in existence with a thing for Highlander. When the sub I was on got a copy of this, it must have burned daily for most of three months. Still a hit.

Other than that, put me down for The Princess Bride and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (another no-show on this thread).

It’s a Wonderful Life (4 - 5 times a year/every year – I have the video)
Back to the Future (more than 30)
Star Wars original Trilogy (several dozen times)
Star Wars Episode I (more than a 15)
Bull Durham - every opportunity
Head (The Monkees) - more than a dozen

Those are the most prominent ones off the top of my head.

Tommy Boy (eh maybe 20 times). Cuz I’m a lowbrow kinda guy.
And T2: Judgement Day (15 times or so.) Besides the incredible effects, this is one of the few action movies I’ve seen with ::gasp:: a plot! (well that’s debatable i suppose…ok forget the plot it just was really cool to watch)

I’ve seen Dumbo every time it came around, every ten years or so, as my different relatives all reached the prime ages.

I apid to see Animal House 5 times.
But really, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, about 60 times.
WHy? Cause its fun!

My favorite movies to watch again and again and again, etc. -

Henry V
A Man for All Seasons
The Princess Bride
Last of the Mohicans
(wore out the soundtrack tape, too)
The Three Musketeers
The Four Musketeers
[the Michael York ones - my TV-taped copies wore out, so I broke down and bought a DVD player - 2nd best decision I ever made]
Star Trek: First Contact
A Christmas Story
[Roommate hates it, but it’s a tradition in my family, especially the 24-hour TBS (?) marathon at Christmas - “You’ll shoot your eye out!”]

All right already! Sheesh! Roommate wants equal time:
[people who hang over the computer should be elbowed…]
Roommate’s favs -
Millenium
Terminator
Terminator II
The Sound of Music
Mary Poppins

Okay, add those to my list, too.

In order of how much I like 'em (lost count of # of viewings)
Blues Brothers and
Dr Strangeglove–classics!
Rocky Horror Picture Show–no comment
Jaws

Weekend at Bernies - It was on HBO just about every time we turned on the TV one summer…we must have watched that movie 10 times in 2 months.

Star Trek 2 - I’m sure I have seen it about 20 times. From beginning to end simply an excellent movie with countless memorable lines.

Stripes - I can’t believe no one has mentioned this one. Bill Murray is HILARIOUS!!

The Jerk - So many great lines. I have seen that one probably 15-20 times also. Best line: “He hates those cans!!”

Star Trek 4 - I think I saw this one in the theatres about 8 times (It was showing at the dollar movies for a couple months!!) and probably another 8 times on TV, rentals, etc.

Breakfast Club and 16 Candles - Ah, to be Molly Ringwald!!

I have really gotten out of this phase of life and now usually only watch a movie once and don’t really go back to these “classics” too often. I think it’s because they are forever burned into my brain.

The Kentucky Fried Movie and Amazon Women On The Moon are both available on DVD @ Amazon. The KFM DVD has a full commentary track by the directors.

Movies I have seen countless times:

  1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
  2. Scream
  3. Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion
  4. Grosse Pointe Blank
  5. The New Original Wonder Woman
  6. The Princess Bride
  7. Hellraiser 1-4
  8. The House On Haunted Hill(New version with Famke Janssen)
  9. Sunset Boulevard
  10. The Long Kiss Goodnight

Weekend At Bernies
A great one. I love when they staple the toupee back on.

Stripes.
Oh, yeah, that’s a good one, also. That’s the one my hubby watches over and over. Lots of good lines in that one, too. Bill Murray IS hilarious.
I also like Groundhog Day, Meatballs (“It just doesn’t matter!!!”) and Scrooged. And of course, he was brilliant in the movie in the OP, Caddyshack.
Two others I love, but am almost ashamed to admit I have seen multiple times:
Dirty Dancing and Titanic
