I am a sucker for melancholy music.

Julian Cope’s second solo album Fried

Simmer Down by Byron Lee and the Dragonaires on BobSkaRadio.com Excellent site that streams Ska non-stop 24 hours a day. Highly recommended!

I’ve been watching The Who’s set from the Teenage Cancer Trust show last night at the Royal Albert Hall. Say what you will about this particular pair of old geezers, but it does my heart good to see them back on stage again.

The other day I had “Selling the Drama” by LIVE stuck in my head, so I decided to listen to Throwing Copper and I’m kind of stuck on it on repeat. Such a good album, one of my first music choices that were mine, as opposed to whatever my parents listened to, and it’s still so, so good.

I listen mostly to various forms of punk nowadays but this album has plenty of vocal and musical elements that I love. It’s interesting to look back and remember those moments grabbing hold of me!

At this moment I am drinking 100% Kona coffee (great Christmas present, and it survived the fire because it was kept at my sister-in-law’s house) and listening to a stereo recording of Casino Royale, more specifically “The Look Of Love” by Dusty Springfield.

John Mulaney’s Netflix show featured an act performing just the kind of transgressive Punk I miss from the Reagan years. I’m in the mood for it again. Go figure.

Spotify- Spare Ass Annie, William S Bouroughs, playlist seeded with William S. Borroughs/Bill Laswell, The Road To Western Civilization. Now Watussi by Harmonia.

Seems like I frequently discovering new Leonard Cohen songs.

Just listened to his song The Faith.

In the song he gently questions god’s creation fatigue.

The latest release from John Fogerty.

I discovered The Fuzziyama Surfers at a music festival three weeks ago and still can’t get enough of them.

The Beths have a new album coming out, so stuff from that:

also new Lemonheads:

and new Chilli Beans

and the new Lisa

Mostly Tedeschi Trucks.

Listening to a bunch of Mogwai because “bands like this” keeps suggesting they’re like Swans and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, but only okay so far.

I like the Beths, looking forward to the new album.

And Evan + Juliana + ft. J. Mascis is exciting; good single, Dando’s voice still seems pretty good.
