What, no American Idol thread yet?

I don’t believe it! Neither does Kevin!

Who let the twins out of jail?

Yeah. It almost makes me feel bad that I didn’t vote for her. Then I remember she’s the kind of girl who would have made fun of me in high school, and I feel a little bit better about it. My lord, I am a terrible person.

I hope it’s not Gedeon. I was just warming up to the kid.

I only started watching this show last year – are there often really painful singouts like that one? Ouch, I couldn’t watch.

I really didn’t want Melissa to go because I felt so bad for her the way it seemed that Simon had predetermined her leaving. But I was a bit sad to see Ayla go when she did. She finally didn’t seem robotoic in the last song.

Bucky over Gedeon? That’s a surprise.

Can’t say I’m too sad or surprised.

I think Gedion is a better singer than some in the final 12 but it’s not about only the voice. He creeped a lot of people out. Me included.

I’m surprised. Darn that Kevin.

I was sad, until Gedeon started asking us to pray for him. Think it was intentional that Seacrest talked over the proclamations of being saved?

Awesome sing out. Gedeon is a way better singer than Kevin. That’s too bad.

Well, there is that too. I’m sure he is a nice guy, but he somehow reminds me of a serial killer…

Agreed. I was shocked too. I was expecting Melissa to go home. Well, Melissa won’t last long in the finals anyway.

Whatever happens, I don’t doubt that this will be a men’s final. I can see most of the women being voted off one by one.

OK, what in the hell just happened? Bucky over Gedeon? Kevin over Will? I mean, I like Kevin and think he’s adorable, but … what? I am so confused. And a little disappointed, actually.

Melissa, Kevin, and probably Bucky are just cannon fodder, I think. Or else Kevin is the new A-Fed. Or the new John Stevens. Or … gasp!the new Clay. I’m scared. Somebody hold me.

Durn it. I thought for sure Kevin or Bucky were going home tonight. Gedion may have been a little creepy, but he was way more talented than those two. I’m utterly flabbergasted.

I actually liked Wills performance last night. He sang well and seemed to be enjoying himself. Still, he wasn’t in the same league as the rest.

No surprise that Kinnik and Ayla went home. Kinnik had the goods, but she couldn’t put them together for one solid performance. Ayla just picked the wrong song.

Kevin looked more shocked than anyone to hear that he’d made it through.

I felt sorry for Ayla. I mean, she’s just a kid, and she just got what is probably the first real disappointment of her life on live TV. Poor thing.

Hubby and I giggled, though, when seacrest announced that either Ayla or Melissa would be leaving. Did y’all see the way they looked at each other? No huggy, hand holdy, good luck stuff there. Each of them was clearly thinking “Die, bitch!” You could practically hear them hissing.

Yeah, that went along handily with Seacrest’s “You all a little close and almost became friends.”

Dunno why I thought that was hilarious.

Congrats! Can you do Franky Valli next week?

And yeah, I think it’s one down at a time from here on out.

You all are a little close and almost became friends.

is what he said.

One a week.

I wasn’t offended by Gedeon but I WAS offended when Mandisa did it. Gedeon is just a really God-happy kid. I don’t think he meant to sound arrogant or anything. Also, his dad just died so that might have had something to do with it.

When Mandisa pulled out Jesus it was in the context of a sanctimonious “I’m such a better person than you” forgiveness speech to Simon.

Well, on to next week. It’s time to make your predictions/preferences known. Wouldn’t it be cool if we got some old school Stevie instead of “I just called to say I love you,” and “Part Time Lover” all night?

  • Chris oughta sing (and will sing, I’m sure) “Higher Ground.” He’ll know the song because the Red Hot Chili Peppers did it, and I think he’ll do it justice.

  • Kevin should sing “You are the Sunshine of My Life,” for the grannies.

  • If Mandissa sings “Boogie on Reggae Woman,” I’ll be all at once a fan.

  • Taylor should sing “Living for the City,” it’s totally his kind of song.

  • Paris can sing “Don’t You Worry About a Thing,” because her name is in the lyrics.

  • Does Elliot have the balls to sing Fingertips? Is that an instrumental? Well, that’s what I meant by balls. Ok, how about “Superstition”?

  • Lisa… oh, somebody has to sing “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” It’s a Star Search song for a Star Search contestant.

  • Ace can sing “Isn’t She Lovely,” and get back into the upper registers so he can make our ears bleed.

  • Kellie can sing “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” and work in a story about writing her Daddy who’s in prison.

I’m having trouble with Bucky and Melissa. Bucky’s too country, and doen’t have the range for Stevie. I’ll give him, “I Was Made to Love Her,” done country. Melissa… “A Place in the Sun.”

Katherine… get this. She can sing “Get Happy.” Yes, the one Judy Garland sang. Yes, Stevie does it too.
