What? No SIX FEET UNDER Thread for 3/16?

OK. I’ll start one.
Good show. Rico deals with his demons and we see a softer side of him. Good.
Lisa quits working for the Maniac. Good.
Nate reacts badly to Lisa’s quitting working for the Maniac. Odd, but interesting.
Ruth welcomes Lisa, Nate and the Baby into David’s old home. Good.
Rico foreshadows danger, injury or death of both his and Nate’s families. Which one will come true?
Nate masturbates in his car before coming home to Lisa. Hmmmmmm? And we are to believe all is well in that little family!
Ruth takes up shop-lifting. Uh-oh!
David and Keith have a get-away weekend. Good! But then fall back into their same negative patterns upon returning home. Bad!
Claire kisses off the womanizing crematorium worker. You go, Claire!
Unusual substitute art teacher clicks with Claire. Yeah, right! We all know where this is going.
Best line of the show: Kathy Bates as Bettina - “Women like us are invisible.” Uh-huh!
Only one more show until Brenda shows up! Batten down the hatches!

After 3 episodes, we have the following story lines:

Will Keith & David work out their domestic problems?
Will Claire find herself, and the recognition she deserves, as an artist?
Will Ruth & Bettina become friends or lovers?
Will Rico find fulfillment working upstairs?
Will Nate be happy as a father and husband to Earth Goddess?

Zzzzz…huh?..10:00 already? (and was it always 50 minutes long, or did that just start this season?)

Even the Corpse of the Week has been underused–it’s only been there to give Rico a scene showing how ill-suited he is to his new position as a partner.

If it weren’t for the underlying “Is this all real, or a near-death-experience for Nate?” question, this would be a not-very-entertaining soap opera.

I only hope it picks up when Brenda returns.

He doesn’t want to move back home. That way Lisa is there all the time.

On the one hand I say good for Claire for dropping that tattooed musician creep. “It needs to be organic,” my ass. If you can’t be with just one person then tell them up front that’s how it works with you and don’t get too involved with any one person unless you’re willing to change. Of course, we all know the real reason she was able to work up the courage to dump him is because she’s hot for teacher.

BTW, I really hope this sub-plot with Ruth and Bettina isn’t going where I think its going.

The show continues it’s downward spiral from season 2.

Have to admit…plot lines getting a little thin and tired.
No longer has the depth of first season.

Now titled: Five Feet Under

Darn you, annieclaus! I had a thread started right before yours! But hey, better late than never.

Not a bad episode, IMHO. There was good character development with Rico, who’s still trying to feel his way
through the live human aspects of the business. The conversation between him and Nate after Callie’s funeral was
terrific. What’s interesting, though, is that while Nate (so far) responds to the grieving families and relatives with a
kindly “I’m so sorry for your loss,” Rico’s caught up with trying to understand what happened by asking for details.
While his questions might be considered inappropriate, they show a lot about his character and his chosen
profession. I suppose he has to know quite a bit about how people died to do a good reconstruction.

There is an unreal haze hanging over Lisa and Nate's marriage. It was pretty evident to me he's going through the
motions of being married (masturbating in the car, talking with Rico in the basement) and is sort of sleepwalking
through it all. Nate seems detached from Lisa, Maya, and everyone else in his life, which makes me even more
eager for Brenda to come back. I hope it's a deliberate choice and not script or directing problems.

David and Keith broke my heart. They went from so happy and relaxed at the resort, singing in bed, right back to
angry and sullen in seconds during the car ride home. I don't see them lasting, especially now that David's got the
Gay Men's Chorus going for him.

Has anyone who's ever been to art school give me some perspective on how it compares to Claire's LAC Arts or
whatever it's called? I did like her tombstone sketch, and that girl who walked out of the class had a pretty nifty
                     hairdo.

                     And Ruth? Shoplifting?!

                     Courtesy of crazy-ass Carol:
"I need to be in a clean white place."

Was anybody freaked by the Lisa/Ruth metamorphsis?
I can’t wait for Brenda’s return.

I wasn’t “freaked.” I thought it was the most revealing event in the episode. Hadn’t seen the similarity between the two women until then. So, now that we know that Nate is Oedipal, what is HE going to do about it. The Father is already dead. What’s left? Self-induced Blindness???
