What retro clothing would you like to see back?

For me, bellbottom jeans
For the ladies, miniskirts and platform heels

These are quite popular here in Europe.

Whatever happened to codpieces?

Ah yes, the good old days when men ruled the fashion world and played “Barbie Doll” with live women.

I’m glad to hear it!

I like 70’s psychodelic, 1940’s tailored suit and dress fashion, gloves, hats, and brooches love it more than 50’s stuff. Also 1920’s flapper fashion. Downtown Abbey evening wear too.

Walking sticks, canes and staves.

When my father started needing a cane, I knew his pride would never allow him to use a cane that looked like a medical necessity. But, he might use one that looked like a fashion accessory. So I hunted for such a cane. I also urged the other members of our family to tell Dad (this was before the LOTR films) ‘That cane makes you look like a wizard from one of your fantasy books.’ In the end, it didn’t work. Dad refused to use any of the canes I found. It did get me started on collecting canes, walking sticks and staves though.

That would definitely be my second choice.

Me, too. I have a great second hand charcoal pin stripe suit from Bullocks that has to be from the 40s. Slightly below knee length almost A-line skirt with an inverted pleat front and back with a nipped waist suit jacket with wide lapels. When I bought it, the sales clerk said the owner was going to be disappointed because she’d been trying to lose weight to fit into that suit, but couldn’t justify not leaving it available for sale.

Now that would be cool. A quarterstaff could come in handy at the supermarket.

Nothing better to shake at kids who are on your lawn. Much more intimidating that a raised clenched fist IMHO.

Zoot suits. No one can tell how fat you are in a zoot suit.

Cool Score! Sadly nothing from a vintage era fits on my frame anymore except for a Corde clutch I bought at a garage sale. Not sure the year, I’d say 40’s in great shape with original lucite pull.

80s vest, maybe with a blouse with poofy sleeves. I really like vests, but it seems most of them are down, which is not what I want.

Different hats would be fun. There was a short time recently that hipsters wore fedoras. I live in a hipster part of Boston and there’s a hat store near by; I always wonder how they stay in business.

Personally I don’t like the look of high-waisted pants so that style could go away. Other than the 70’s and some 80’s styles I kinda’ like all retro looks. Usually that means women’s fashions, though, because men largely wore just different fits of suits. They didn’t quite have the large swings of fashion like flappers and Audrey Hepburn pencil skirts.

Well, I’m not the same weight now (this was probably 35 years ago), but I still do have the suit. There was a different shop called The Junk Store that had lots of 40s clothes back then. I got a bunch. My dimensions were just right for a lot of those styles.

I thought the hipster trend was for trilbys.

If so then I vote for the braless in a minidress look.

I should mention that in addition to jeans and sneakers, my laces are loose enough that all my shoes are slip-ons.

Please note that I was being sarcastic when I said “good old days”.
