I like Ruffles’ sour cream and onion. Or any variety of ridged sour cream and onion. Utz is also acceptable.
ok lol I eat chips of all kinds so here we go
lays potato chips: bbq, cheddar, and s. cream, s.cream and chives and sometimes ill get "flavor of the month or so " just to try it out
Doritos: taco, original, and cool ranch
Fritos chili and cheese and bbq (hard to find in the original form they make then in a different shape)
Also if you can find then laura Scudders bbq corn chips
Also if you can find them (since they cut back on the marketing to the kids) the pepperidge farms “extreme” cheddar bbq flavor goldfish
there ya go
Depends on what day of the week it is.
Right now it’s Lay’s flamin hot dill pickle.
Lays All-Dressed
Fried-egg flavored chips go great with pickled mussels and cold beer.
Red Rock Deli - Lime and Black Pepper, Their Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream is pretty good too.
Utz unsalted. They are suprisingly good, especially with onion dip. Only drawback is that they break too easily when dipping them.
Other than that, Cape Cod Reduced Fat.
I don’t think I have another account, but I could have written this.
As they aren’t available here, Tyrell’s Mature Cheddar & Chive is my favorite. Their Salt & Vinegar is also quite tasty.
Utz Red Hot. Not really very “hot” to me, but the flavor is excellent. It’s like a much spicier, much less sweet barbecue flavor.
Leaning Cask Brewery (a place I liked to visit in before times) has a brand of potato chips that just does odd flavors. I’ve tried Wasabi and Worcestershire sauce, both excellent. I will try the rest if/when.
I like kettle-style. Let the roof of my mouth be torn to shreds and the salt cause terrible pain, it’s worth it.
As for flavoring, I don’t have a problem with chip flavors in theory, but for my chips I usually like simple potato flavor. Maybe black pepper once in awhile.
Here in Michigan we like our Better Made chips. I personally don’t find them to be anything too special but they have a lot of fans:
I’m happy to see there are lots of salt and vinegar fans. Happy because that leaves more jalapeno chips for me! Krunchers does those the best and I think Cape Cod has some yummy one’s too when you’re in the mood for a kettle style chip.
Occasionally I’ll get an overwhelming urge for some (and by some I mean an entire bag)of Munchos and when that happens, *only *Munchos will do.
Wavy Lays is what I regularly eat. I don’t claim they’re the “best”, but they’re nice, readily available and on sale often enough. I much prefer wide-waves to the teeny gum scraping style like Ruffles.
I have thought about trying something else, just to see. So this thread is relevant to my interests. OTOH, vinegar? No thank you.
Zapp’s Spicy Cajun Crawtators
I just messaged the brew-master to enquirer about getting some growlers filled. I asked about the chips, and he told me they are crisps from the UK made by Walkers.
(The brewery is English themed, so it makes sense)
I’m also a salt and vinegar or dill & vinegar guy or hot salt and vinegar guy. Brands? Utz, Vitner’s, but I don’t really care all that much.
I also quite enjoy the Utz Crab Chips (Old Bay seasoning flavored.)
ETA: OK, to follow the OP to the letter, my vote is Vitner’s hot salt and sour.
Oh, man, haven’t had that one yet. That pretty much combines all my favorite salt & vinegar flavors into one!
Kettle brand sea salt chips. Yeah, boring, but I’m a purist. And they’re made in Oregon, so they’re fresh. On the corn side, it’s Josephina’s. They don’t get much shelf space, because the local Juanita’s get all the attention, but they’re a much better chip, IMO.
I LOVE potato chips! Plain potato chips are my go-to. I do like a flavored chip once in a while.
In order:
Simply Lays Thick Cut Sea Salt - The perfect chip. Don’t let the “thick cut” throw you. They’re just a teeny bit thicker than regular Lays. The issue is, they’re hard to find. The stores around me carry them for a while and then they disappear. Right now I can’t find them anywhere :(.
Kwik Trip Classic - When I couldn’t find SLTCSS I tried these out. They’re very good!
Ruffles (plain)
Wavy Lays (plain)
Lays - Regular Lays chips taste good, BUT I hate that the chips always seem to be really small. I like a big chip - the size of a sliced potato. So it’s ALMOST impossible to fit the whole chip in your mouth at once.
Old Dutch - regional brand
The only flavored potato chips I like are Ruffles or Wavy Lays sour cream cheddar.
Corn chips:
On the Border plain tortilla chips
Kwik Trip taco flavored - I used to love Doritos, both nacho and taco, but they’ve changed over the years. I’ll eat them, but not like I used to.
Fritos (regular)
For corn: Tostitos Simply Organic. They’re purple and I don’t truck in organic nonsense, but man are they tasty.
