What should I have to drink right now?

I’ve been sitting here for the past four hours “tending” bar. No one has come in for the past 2 and a half. It’s time to start celebrating. I am planning on closing in two hours and fifteen minutes or so. I suppose I can handle a couple drinks before I head home. I don’t have a wine license, but otherwise it’s a full service bar.

Any suggestions?

Moved from MPSIMS to CS.

Jager shots!!!

Interesting idea, but not terribly creative, S I can do one, but I won’t be doing an assload of shots in the next 2 hours. How about something I can savor for a few minutes?

Not sure what you like. I’m a fan of gimlets and Manhattans. Maybe a rum punch if you feel like something fruity.

My personal favorite is a well made tequila sunrise… how does that sound to ya?

Do a side by side taste test of different versions of a sidecar. Brandy, gin, vodka, tequila, etc. Then you have a conversation piece when someone asks you why you’re drinking five drinks at once.

This strikes me as dangerous. Adventurous, but dangerous.

This suggestion strikes me as more reasonable. Tequila sunrise it it.

And by the by, I sipped the Jager shot. It was warming and herby. Thanks for the suggestion, S.

Knob Creek bourbon and Seven Up.

It’s working pretty good for me at the moment.

Old Fashioned all the way.

If not, single malt whiskey with plenty of ice.

Pick a beer you have never drank. Try it.

Do stuff with Irish Creme - tastes like milkshakes - only hits after a couple of hours - next day hangover about 2 out of 5.

Learned this when I visited with my sister in Kildare (home of Irish Creme) - do not mix with anything else - learned this also on another visit!

Mix with anything else - hangover goes to 11.

Very nice suggestion for the next round. I was hoping someone would go in this direction.

Another good idea. Sadly I’m out of orange slices at the moment. The single malt idea is a good one, too. I think I’m leaning that way.

Nice theory. There are a couple beers in the case I’ve never had, but not many. I’m not drinking a Michelob Ultra for the first time tonight.

Mix it with what? Irish Creme and Irish whiskey? I wish I was in Kildare, though.

By the way, the Tequila sunrise was a bit of a disappointment. Only because the OJ was from off the gun and that was unfortunate. Customer update: two regulars, one guy playing solo pool. Three domestics sold. Nine bucks in the till.

And the winner is: Nob Creek with plenty of ice. Hold the Sprite, though.

Gin and tonic. It’s classic.

Count this as another vote for the single malt. My personal pick would be Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. But definitely NOT Lephroaig. Unless you like the taste of dirty sweat socks.

Dark & Stormy. Gosling’s Black Seal Rum & Ginger Beer, lime garnish. wonderful.

Sounds wonderful. Sadly, no Goslings, no ginger beer. Maybe I should have qualified it as reasonably full service bar. It’s pretty much a college bar. I’m leaning against the single malt because I’ve got only 2 shots of Glenfidich left. Need to save something for Christmas day.

Still nursing the Nob Creek, BTW. One, maybe two drinks left.

Man, If I had access to a full service bar, I’d make every single YDAD drink I thought I could handle. How about a Firecrotch? Carrot juice, ginger liqueur, spicy gin and garnished with an orange. Otherwise I second the gin and tonic.

Rusty Nail. Yum. I haven’t had one in years and now you’ve got me wishing.

YDAD? Had to Google it. Passed that phase in life at least a decade ago. At least.

Got some business and a G&T. Talk in a bit.
