The other one.
This.
I have a tendency, like a lot of the guys here, to prefer short or curvy. Or both. My wife is 5’7" and is one of the most curvy women I’ve ever seen anywhere while still having a waist and hips, and she’s the tallest of people I’ve been really attracted to (my college girlfriends were all closer to 5’3"). I’m also a big fan of longer hair, or at least hair that the person knows how to wear–which sort of goes into a less “body type” thing but a woman who knows how to make a “look” (body, style of dress, hair) work for her and KNOWS it’s working for her, that’s the good stuff.
Also, I’m having an interesting reaction similar to the “so men DON’T like barbie dolls, eh”–at least two or three women have described liking my body type (strong, somewhat to very pudgy, tall). Where are you all in real life?
With all the guys who like short, curvy girls!
As to guys likeing the Barbie-doll type, I think threads like these tend to attract people who are going to give outside-the-norm (or what they think are outside-the-norm) answers, in general. So guys who only think super-model types are hot probably aren’t going to answer.
Not that there’s anything wrong with liking the tall-thin-big-boobed type - we all have preferences, and we don’t usually consciously choose them.
Plus these boards are total Bizarro World in terms of what people find physically attractive.
I’m in the seeming minority of women who like stocky, very muscular guys. Height doesn’t really matter, although I do prefer under 5’10". But muscles on muscles? Yum!
I like short women. Odd, because none of the women I’ve dated are short. I just napped through a Two and Half Men episode and in this one Charlie’s brother’s receptionist is played by short woman barely five feet tall. Sexy!
(Someone recently told me this was creepy and practically called me a pedo.)
But I have to say that a body-type doesn’t do it for me nearly as much as a wonderful smile. *That *makes my heart skip a beat! Add in a girl who knows how to give a saucy little wink. Yum!
No way. Me too!!! (Aside from the under 5’10" bit.) It kind of sucks being in the minority, because my heart breaks a little each time a skinny friend tells me he’s trying to get “toned.” But it rocks because you have less competition when a truly hot guy does come along.
For reference, this is what I like.
Strong-legged women
I’ve been somewhat surprised at the extent of self-reported preference for diminutive stature in female sexual partners given here. The association is relatively weak in terms of variation in reproductive success, only c. 1% (Nettle 2002; .pdf). Your friend isn’t entirely incorrect insofar as height selection is likely to be correlated with the earlier sexual maturity of females of small stature. Genetic fitness only becomes an issue at height extremes, so evolutionarily it’s because you and others here are [del]pedos[/del] orientated towards early cues of fertility.
Contrary to some other preconceptions mentioned here, males aren’t most attracted to the dysmorphic ‘supermodel’ physique, but favour characteristics such as waist-to-hip ratio, body mass index, and height best correlated with reproductive success, i.e. curvy (WHR c. 0.7), normal BMI and 0.7 to 1.7 s.d. below mean height (1.58 m - 1.51 m).
Personally I have two criteria; anything with a pulse, and the first criterion is flexible.
Oh hell yeah.
The women i find attractive are very curvy around size 18-24.
I like little guys. Not too much muscle, but on the skinny side. Preferably with olive skin, dark hair, dark eyes. I want a guy I can dance with, and get lost in his gaze.
I like shorter girls, maybe 5’3 to 5’6. No waifs; I like girls who have enough fat on them to be soft and cuddly, but no jelly-rolls. Big, warm, deep eyes I can lose myself in. Full, soft lips, for better kisses. I like boobs too, but not too big or too small - a mid-B to a low-C cup is perfect. And I completely and totally MELT over long, black hair that curls just a bit.
Heh, that’s pretty much me, except I don’t think I have thick eyelashes.
ETA: This thread needs moar pics.
For men, I prefer a guy somewhere around my height (I’m just under 5’10") and I’m pretty flexible about size-- I like skinny and I like muscular, but a little pudge isn’t going to hurt a guy’s chances. Generally, however, somewhere between #2-6 on this image scale is more within my “acceptable” range. I normally prefer dark-haired guys, but the occasional blonde or redhead has been known to turn my head; I have trouble pinning down just one “type” for me, though. For example I recently saw I Love You, Man on dvd and found that I was attracted to both Jason Segel and Andy Samberg, who have fairly different body types. Even a lankier, waifier Samberg would have been fine; however, there’s a tipping point on either end for me, as too much man-boob or too much bony-skeleton details is going to turn me off. The guy in this photo is A-ok with me, and, though I’m not the skinniest woman ever (I’m more “fatletic” at this point than thin, with muscular legs and the beginnings of a gut), I don’t quite make as crazy a visual comparison with a skinny-to-average guy.
I’m 5 feet tall and curvy, and a lot of men I have dated told me they were specifically into short, curvy women. It’s definitely a type that some guys like. As for it being correlated with sexual immaturity, not so much if you’re sporting a D cup. I think curves are accentuated in short women, since the torso tends to be more compressed (what little height I have is in my legs).
I’m most attracted to women who are short to medium height, slightly overweight, and (I realize this isn’t a body-type attribute) have lots of hair.
I’m going to consider stealing this. That’s more or less my body type, except I have more than the beginnings of a gut.
The hypothesis isn’t preference for sexual immaturity, rather achieving sexual maturity at an earlier age. Essentially, you’ve traded off somatic growth with your ability to reproduce younger. Bone growth tends to decelerate with the advent of sexual maturity in females, so your development of physical cues indicating fertility (your D cups, and WHR) combined with short stature, occurring relatively early, attract males. Conversely, females are attracted to males able to provide resources and compete against other males, so greater stature is sought. Extremes of physical height are selected against on the basis of genetic fitness, and due to the poly-genetic nature of the trait.
It’s not so much the body type as the face. If the woman has short hair and can pull it off (think Winona Ryder) than that’s a big turn-on. Dark hair-haven’t met enough redheads to know if I like em. Dark skin-either tanned or natural. I work part-time at a gym, so I’m likely becoming attracted to strong women, but not fanatically-ripped girls. Being invisible to the opposite sex does help me sort out my prefrences…
