What stuff did "They" stop making just because you like it?

God, you are so right! I used to love this stuff in the evening. with a splash of gin and a twist of lime… alongside a steamed artichoke. Ahhh.

Or did I use it to bathe my dog? Or improve my gas mileage? Or as a hair remover?

Wait… what was this product??

I shouldn’t joke. The gods will punish me by removing yet another product that I love. A friend of mine won’t let me say out loud that I like a product that he also likes for fear it will disappear that very day. :frowning:

I still count this as the start of my descent into cynicism about the human race, and the moment I became aware of entropy as a defining feature of the universe.

As a child my family discovered Grapefruit Tang and it was good. It became our drink of choice, we consumed gallons of it, it was our nectar. Then, just like that, poof - it was gone. We searched high and low, asked our relatives in other states to be on the lookout for it, even called the manufacturer to see if they could supply us! But, to no avail. Gone.

My life has been a disappointment ever since.

I remember these too. And now I want one.

Astrid - it was a to-do list manager with cloud storage and notifications. It was bought by Yahoo and shut down.

I got a gently driven Delorean you’d just love!

Hmmm. I thought I’d explained what it was for: removing rust from fabric. I didn’t use it a lot but when I needed it, it was the only thing which worked.

My youth.

Turned my back for an instant, and Boom!
Gone, never to return…

You prolly did. I was just being silly. I liked the sound of the name.

Surge. And Vault, it’s replacement clone.

Quaker oats brought Quisp back a while ago.

I remember! I bought several boxes, but alas, I’m once again out.

There used to be a generic bagged brand that was identical, but the stores around here don’t carry it anymore (and I can’t remember what it was called). (ETA: It was “Sweet Crunch,” and apparently it was also made by Quaker.)

Bic Clear Clic Pens (Blue)
Tubifex Worm Cubes
Freddie Bartholomew Movies
Honey Nut Clusters
PB Max (mentioned before)
Decent leather belts for the Big & Tall (This extension cord isn’t very stylish)
Aberfoyle Bottled Water in the cardboard cases
“Economy meats” like beef liver & tongue at economical prices
The Arch Deluxe
Levi’s Carpenter Jeans
Mount Gay Sugar Cane Rum
The Savage 1907, in either .32 or .380 caliber

So many other things I can’t even think of at the moment, I’m numb after being abandoned by so many corporate overlords I had sworn allegiance to.
And they’re trying to put the pinch on my Mentadent toothpaste, but I just found a case yesterday (last in stock) so I’m good for about another year and a half.

“Harrison”-cut Dockers. Non-“skinny” (because really, I graduated college more than 10 years ago and don’t play in a band) khakis that at the same time didn’t look like I bought them planning on gaining 30 pounds.

Levi blue jeans with a 31" inseam. I’ve never understood why they, and all other jean makers, have eliminated an imseam that would probably be the chosen length for a sizeable percentage of their customer base. I’d have bought a whole lot more jeans over the years had they had my goddam size.

Keebler made a version of Samoas cookies without the coconut! (I’m allergic to coconut). They were delicious. Of course they disappeared immediately.

Cacique made the world’s best bra – light underwire, non-moulded cups, and no padding. In cotton. And it came in a 40B.

And now they don’t.

Well…have you tried the ***new ***old Vidal Sassoon? I bought it and it works as remembered. Gave me lots of body. Also smelled right. (The conditioner scent was not quite the same, more straight almonds, but ok.)

My thick wavy hair is also gone. It’s mostly average. Still a pretty color, though, so I can’t complain too much. And it’s not like it’s “thin”.

The most recent Lays Potato Chips vote-for-the-best-new-flavor campaign. I guess I noticed too late, waited too long. I bought the truffle fries flavor and went back a few days later to get the others, mainly the gyro flavor. Gone! Shelves cleared. None to be found, even at the 7-11 or gas station.

Perfumes: Yardley April Violets cologne, used to be in the Vermont Country Store catalog. Gone. It’s not like it’s made from actual flowers, all violet accord is made from chemicals. Donna Karan Black Cashmere perfume. Gone. And Crabtree & Evelyn Nantucket Briar - reformulated into something completely different. (I read the factory that made it burned down so they are selling something else in its place.) I could search it out on eBay and pay $$$, though.

My wife:

Foundation
Powder
Lipstick

Doesn’t matter… her entire life, she finds one that she likes… only to have it discontinued ASAP.

On the other hand, I stopped eating Yoplait yogurt because it had aspartame, and voila, a few years later They’re offering it without aspartame like Those marketing wizards noticed my displeasure.

The stuff They stopped making, or stopped making right, is too long to list though. I’ll just mention New Balance used to have the perfect running shoes for me available for just $25 at a department store. I used to like Nike Air Pegasus too.

I had a clock radio that had a lens which would project the time of day onto a wall or ceiling in your choice of 3 different colors and a range of sizes.
This clock had several different alarm functions and it was really nice to be able to check the time in the middle of the night by simply opening your eyes .
I had this device for many years and it never ceased to amuse me.

One day it stopped working and I looked everywhere for a replacement. I even called the manufacturer and asked them if they would repair it. Not only did they decline to repair but they would not even sell me the replacement parts to fix :smack:.
I now use a smart phone as my alarm.
