I liked that one too, but I understand why they dropped it from the menu. It wasn’t that popular and nothing else on the menu used the buns, so it was win/win for them. I still can get roughly the same thing at Del Taco, though, so all is not lost.
Sounds like it might have been a victim of the “Think outside the bun” ad campaign?
I miss the Big Beef Burrito Supreme. It was the closest they’ve ever come to making a burrito with the right proportions of ingredients for me.

It was, in fact, originally called the BellBurger and it went through a few permutations but it always had overtones of “food for people who’d reallly rather be at a burger joint”.
The ones I miss from Taco Bell:
• original enchirito — with black olives!
• green sauce as an alternative to the various red sauces
• umm… damn, forget what they called it, they expired it in the 1980s and I began approximating it afterwards by ordering a MexiMelt with beans instead of meat and with extra cheese and with PIZZA cheese added. It also had a smoky sauce that could not be added as an extra because the sauce was discontinued when the item was discontinued, though. something-ita
Boo on apple-flavored tea, yay for finding it online, and thank you!
Look, if I post a box of crispy M & Ms to the US, will you get the Aussies and Kiwis to shut up about Tim Tams?
I know They still make them, it’s just that They’re 12,000 miles away…
St. Ives Apricot scrub - they still make it but it used to have a minty sort of smell now it’s all fruity and makes me gag.
Campbell’s Fiesta Tomato soup - great for making fajitas. Just the right amount of spice.
Body Shop White Musk glycerin soap - it used to be blue and clear and smelled like heaven. Now the only White Musk soap is a lotiony soap that makes me itch.
Aveeno Unscented Baby Lotion - it was a great lotion for my sensitive skin and seemed to be actually unscented. Now, the unscented smells vaguely of cherries. I do not want to smell like fruit.
Oil of Olay Total Effects for Wrinkles and Acne - seriously, folks, I have both.
Marcelle loose powder in translucent - light and good absorption. Gone.
Makeup, for sure. I finally found a shade of L’Oreal that’s pretty close to perfect for me (still a bit too light – somehow my Irish/Italian skin manages to have a touch of yellow in it – but the best I’ve found so far), and now no one carries it (grocery store, Target, etc.). I tried various bottles of what I could find, but wound up ordering more of the L’Oreal from Amazon. In fact, I should probably go ahead and order another one right now, just in case.
The old apple pies from McDonald’s; back when they used to fry 'em.
Roller Coasters. Sometimes I still scan the Chef Boyardee shelf at the grocery store, just in case they ever bring them back.
That prompted me to do an online search for the “classic” Creamy Pasta flavor, which no grocery store in my area seems to carry anymore. Once again, Amazon to the rescue.
(Also, excellent idea to sub chicken for tuna! I make Chicken Helper with canned chicken because I can’t be arsed to deal with real chicken; however, I never thought to use chicken with Tuna Helper. I’m liking the idea of the Cheesy Pasta flavor with chicken…)
Jello Pudding Pops.
Topshop Martha jeans, DAMMIT. Slim-fit but not superskinny, not too lowrise but not high-waisted, just the right little bit of stretch, just the right shade of blue, they even came in a 30 inseam for us short people… I’ve lived in them for years, but I haven’t bought a pair in over a year because I was pregnant. Now the baby is almost four months old, I’m almost back to my pre-her shape, and I want a pair of Martha jeans to replace the ones that are falling to pieces. And it looks like they’re bloody well discontinued. I’m well pissed off.
Don’t know about the UK, but I’m in Dublin and just saw those in a fancy department store a couple of weeks ago. Maybe the same kind of shop around your way stocks them?
If anyone finds me Topshop Marthas, I will send you a massive package of Flipz or crispy M&Ms or whatever your heart desires.
YES.
If you’ve never had the caramel apple empenada from Taco Bell, you might be interested in trying one. It’s not the same thing, but it’s definitely in the same genre.
You can still get the Wendy’s (renamed) Bacon Deluxe here, but apparently not in the US.
Crabtree and Evelyn’s Lime & Ginger marmalade (or anything else other than fancy cosmetics).
Pretty much any new PC product that we really like. They show up on the grocery shelves for long enough for us to become hooked, then disappear. (Apparently we’re a test market for new products, and most don’t make the cut :()
I’ll have to check that out sometime; thanks!
You’re one of the few people I know who remember these. They remain a holy grail for me and my sister. They were sold in the cookie aisle and I still look for them.
There were also some fudge cookies that my husband and I both remember—chocolate flower-shaped cookies with fudge filling in between. Can’t recall the name right now, but my husband will.
I will see everyone’s Body on Tap shampoo and raise you:
Clean n Clear shampoo and conditioner
White Worcestershire sauce
Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara
Brach’s fudge eggs for Easter. Little fudge eggs, dipped in chocolate, flat on bottom and top, and about the size of an oversized jelly bean. You got them in a small cardboard box, loosely packed and not individually wrapped. My mother and I both loved those, and suddenly they were no longer in stores around Easter time, and I haven’t seen them in well over a decade.
Hamburger Helper has a fried rice version. Maybe just make it without the burger.
So, a taco burger then. If you have a Taco John’s nearby, they still have a taco burger.
Purex all-in-one laundry sheets. I’ve been buying up remaining inventory on the internet for the past year.
Stewart’s grape soda (the website says they still make it, but nobody carries it anymore).
Champion yoga pants that go all the way down to my ankles. I hate capris. I think they make people look like they’ve outgrown their pants. I just wandered around Target trying to find non-capri yoga pants (among several other things they supposedly had but didn’t). Time to resort to Ye Olde Online Shopping.
This item is still in production, but somehow my local grocer got word that I absolutely love the San Pellegrino limonata soda, because they carry every flavor except that.
You can still get this – they just call it the iPad mini now
