What the fuck is wrong with Huey Freeman?

I’m not advocating promoting any sort of racism or bigotry or prejudice. I’m just saying that, IMO, standing alongside white supremacists and their enablers/tolerators in mocking/attacking a black guy aids and helps racism, bigotry, and prejudice. And thus I’m not going to do it, and I’ll urge others to also refrain from doing it.

I started a new thread for this. https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=21439420

Somehow I’m not terribly interested in dancing for you. Thanks for getting the number of i’s right in my username, though!

wtf? lmao

No problem. I don’t know if it’s because I’m on a laptop and others aren’t that the spelling’s always looked so obvious to me.

No, you know what? Someone (I’ll butcher the spelling badly if I don’t look it up) called you the most dangerous person on this site awhile back and it was a joke to you, you repeated it several times like it was all so funny.

I’ve got news for you. Probably 90-95% of what you post is between pretty good and benign in my eyes. And I’m sitting here frozen in horror. This is horror that that notion could be so amusing to you. I’m enveloped in a darkness where I can’t even look at you.

I apologize for enveloping you in darkness. May I recommend that you turn on the lights?

I understand your reticence but I have to disagree. He implied that I was a cross burner for saying — not in an inflammatory way, mind you — that it would be hard to prove that the boards are 95% white. He has continued to repeat bizarre, unfounded howlers about inbreeding having led to a massive incidence of autism among white persons.

I don’t pretend to know what white supremacists want, and I certainly don’t want to aid and abet it. But it doesn’t feel right that I can’t say “this poster is making really stupid, crazy claims” because there are white supremacists who hate him for being black.

It’s not right to, say, claim that he’s really white or a Russian. But yeah, I resent being called an inbred autist.

Oh the irony.

No. There is no excuse to insult the family members of others, especially children.

Being a persecuted minority is NOT a license to persecute others. Huey has said some very hateful things about the disabled, immigrants (particularly children), and struck at the family members of posters.

Would Jewish members of the board get free reign to spew homophobic slurs? Can we allow trans members to use the n-word?

Does Louis Farrakhan get a pass for the hateful shit he said about Jews? What about all the shit Perez Hilton has done?
Hey, Roman Polanski was a Holocaust survivor whose wife and unborn child were murdered in one of the most horrific crimes of the 20th century! Surely that twisted his mind and he wasn’t thinking right when he raped that girl – let him get a freebie! Let’s just let bygones be bygones, shall we?
Where does it end?

iiandyiiii, I like you, and consider you a friend here, but I think you’re dead wrong on this.
Look, at this point, at this point, it’s pretty much obvious that Huey’s already made up his mind. He’s not here to debate, he’s here to preach. People aren’t giving him shit because he’s black, they’re giving him shit because they do that to everyone else who comes here to preach, and don’t bother to learn the culture of the place. He’s been given advice, (“hey, no offense, but you might want to check things out a bit, observe, blah blah blah”), but no dice. YOU yourself have been here long enough to know that. You’ve SEEN how many times shit like this goes down. It’s only the reason the person comes here that changes.

And again, going after the family members of posters, especially their children, should, in my mind, be against the rules. I think it should fall under being a jerk.

But, if it makes him feel better to believe he’s being persecuted because of race well, then hey, whatever. I’ve got more important things to worry about right now.

Most of this is unrelated to what I’m saying. But I said what I wanted to say, and I don’t plan to make a big thing about it. It was just my thoughts and opinions, which I thought some might be interested in. Whatever Huey says, I’d rather be silent than stand alongside white supremacist tolerators and enablers in attacking and mocking him. YMMV.

I think this is weak-minded, it’s pretty much the definition of virtue-signalling. It’s paying lip service to the true and important lessons of modern social theory, but in reality it’s just going completely off the deep end with identity politics.

We’re not joining teams here. We’re expressing our views on the behavior of one human being, not all black people. You seem to be explicitly suggesting that we suspend our critical faculties, not judge this person on the content of his character, not judge issues on their merits, but just align ourselves tribally as progressive or “white supremacist”.

Well, I don’t think Huey needs a team to support him, he seems to be quite able to stand up for himself. And I don’t think the color of Huey’s skin automatically makes him a progressive ally. If you won’t call out Huey’s toxic bigotry, then you’re enabling it. Do you think that being an ally of black people in the fight against racism means that no black person can ever do wrong? Or that if you ever disagree with a black person’s behavior, that implies that you are “standing alongside white supremacists”? This is identity politics gone mad, it’s an intellectually bankrupt ideology.

As I asked earlier of asahi, is there any extreme Huey could go to that would be unacceptable for you? What if he advocated killing all Jews? If I called him out on that, would that still mean I was “standing alongside white supremacists”? Do I need to persevere with the reductio ad absurdum?

If Shodan (or whoever you think is a white supremacist here) happens to agree with me on the narrow issue of calling out Huey’s toxic bigotry, so what? That does not somehow magically suck me into the vortex of Shodan’s more general bullshit, or imply that I’m “standing alongside” Shodan. And I’m not so insecure that I’m worried that criticizing one particular black man’s toxic bigotry somehow undermines my credibility as an ally of black people in opposition to racism.

I think the reason people are mocking him is that they feel he’s insincere, for the most part. Attacking, well, considering some of the hateful things he’s said – and I’m not talking about white people – I don’t think it’s unwarranted. YMMV.

Oh, and just as a post-script. Yes, Huey, I DO suffer from depression – anxiety too. I’m also an epileptic, just in case you want to come up with any insults there.

As far as I know, none of it was caused by inbreeding.

I said what I wanted to say, and folks can say what they want to say. I don’t think the last couple of responses are really getting what I’m saying, and that’s okay. I’m not going to go on a deep dive; I just wanted to put my thoughts out there.

I hope asahi did not answer it. You’re asking whether I could call for the extermination of a people and whether that would be acceptable behavior? Is that the question? That’s the most stupid ass question I’ve seen on this forum. And you’re stupid as fuck for asking it. The first reason it’s a stupid ass question is because calling for the extermination of any group of people is against the fucking rules of the message board. Ya’ll thots may not read (“it’s too long”, “it’s a block of text”, “omg, reading, it hurts”, “the words burn”), but I do. Second reason it’s a stupid ass question is because there are no words or posts that I wrote that called or advocated for the killing of anyone. Lastly, asahi likely knows you’re trying to equivocate your support for white supremacy and racism with my comments. I called ya’ll animals and thots, I called ya’ll autistic and inbred - so the fuck what? - that’s comparable to Grand Dragon Shodan (aka Komodo DragonShodan) sustained attack on people of color for the last few decades? Are you this fragile? Get a fucking grip. Trust me, bruh, and you take this to the bank: if and when this Republic falls it won’t be because of a “black man’s toxic bigotry”. Best believe that.

Erm, Huey? What was this about?

Should we add Latinos to the list of people you hate, along with white people, women, autistic people, and black people who don’t think like you?

Asahi, this is the vulture behavior I was telling you about. I like this particular post because the comment representative of how the vultures work. The vulture will pick out something tangential to your point and use that point to question your intentions or to paint you as a hypocrite. This is exactly what was done to you with the cunt comment. The vultures don’t care what about your response, the point is to try to humiliate, make you look like a hypocrite, to catch you off guard, to make you the object of derision. And, frankly, let’s face it, these hoes have already dehumanized you anyway. I can see them saying this shit to me, but to you? Face it, asahi, you’re just not welcome in the cult. And know that you will never get empathy or compassion from these vultures. Monster is, as monster does. I know The Bible is not liked around here but I think Matthew 7:16 is key. What soothes me is that their cult-like maneuvering is shriveling this place into a raisin. It’s their just deserts (and they have no one else to blame but themselves).

You said the words, dude. Own 'em.

White supremacists? Yoohoo, Aryans! We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children. Who’s with me?

::Crickets::

If you toss words like that around frivolously, everyone will ignore you when David Duke shows up.

Look, as I informed the knuckleheads in ATMB, you don’t have a strong case against so-called misogyny when you employ misandrist or ageist or racist comments.

The same goes for you. You can’t whine about so-called racism while posting racist nonsense. At least post something ‘racist’ that may be true. Like white cornerbacks are too slow for the NFL. But this autism thing loses you valuable allies.

Sure you can. You just have to have a spine.

You now care about civil behavior in the Pit? :dubious:
