I can see why Huey wrote what he did. I’m not sure it’s what I would have written, but then again, I’m white. Sure, there’s a part of me that thinks “Okay, Huey, you attacked someone’s children - that’s kinda fucked up.” But there’s the other side of me that remembers how I was treated when I was a gaijin in Japan and I have enough self-awareness to know that being a white guy in Asia, however ‘foreign’ I felt, ain’t even a cent as hard as being black in America, a country whose economic and social system were essentially established on the foundation of white supremacy (over blacks). If you don’t ‘get it’, then you probably shouldn’t be lecturing Huey Freeman.
You do realize black children, especially males, are least likely to be adopted.
Now, go back, and re-read the interaction. Try to imagine being black in America and all the shit that comes with it, and then reading the thread.
I think the problem is, most white liberals reading this say “I’m a progressive. I get blacks. I get women. I get minorities. WHY THE FUCK AM I NOT APPRECIATED?!”
My “clan” is People Who Don’t Kill 7 Year Old Girls Because They Are Too Fucking Stupid to Know Who They Are Shooting At, you monotonously silly armpit stain.
This is an idiotic expression. Somebody says something clueless, nasty, bigoted - gets a reaction - “must have struck a nerve”. As though the only thing that ever gets a reaction from people is when you bravely speak the truth.
Eh, I don’t know. I’ve felt kinda triggered before. This feels more like annoyance.
That said, as long as there are people getting away with ‘scientific racism’ and the like all over the boards… meh, might as well let Huey post about how inbreeding makes white people sociopathic and autistic. Also, that sociopathy and autism are apparently the same. :smack:
So, in other words, of all non-white people, only black people have other suffered oppression? Jews, the disabled, Asians, Latinos, Native Americans, LGBT, etc – none of them have ever been discriminated against? Does that mean that Huey can use all the slurs he wants against any of them, and he gets a free pass, because he’s black?
Because that seems to be your message. If not, you suck at communicating, jackass.
Yup. But I think that’s obvious to almost everyone except asahi.
Let’s stipulate the distinction that Huey as black person lacks the “power” element of “prejudice plus power”. Huey’s racism is not the same thing as white racism. But what Huey exhibits is nevertheless clearly racism, in the usual colloquial sense of the word. He treats all “white folk” as a monolithic enemy. Who we are as individuals doesn’t seem to matter, only the identity defined by the color of our skin. He talks disparagingly about white fragility, with breathtaking lack of insight into the irony of his own fragility: here’s a man who, when criticized in any way, grants himself blanket immunity by dishonestly inserting a term of abhorrent racist abuse into the mouths of any critics.
So, asahi, can you explain how genuflecting to Huey, this toxic divisive racist, would help fight racism?
Think about what, exactly? He’s not entitled to smear my child, disabled folks, and other people’s children because “white people”.
Is anyone assaulting Huey’s race? Just because we think he’s bawbag, it doesn’t mean that we are attacking him on the basis of race. We’re calling him a racist, because he posts hateful screeds about anyone with even a drop of white blood. The argument that “those guys did it first” isn’t an excuse. How about if none of us do it, to the extent possible?
It’s nice to see you doing something other than hyperventilating over politics. You’re still a twit, however.
You are wrong about autism and empathy. Your cite is wrong about autism and empathy. Autistic people may have trouble expressing empathy but we certainly feel it.
